Ballydoyle Irish Pub and Rest
Rosegreen is a small village situated on a crossroad in country Tipperary in the southern midlands of Ireland. Rosegreen is home to the world renowned Ballydoyle racing stables. Ballydoyle has a tradition, which stretches back almost 50 years, as a nursery of classic excellence. Over that time the legendary vincent O'Brien nurtured at Ballydoyle the careers of a legion of superlative racehorses, among them Ballymoss, Sir Ivor, Nijinsky II, The Minstrel, Alleged, Storm Bird, EL Gran Senor and Coolmore's record-breaking champion, sadler's wells.
We've been going to the Aurora Ballydoyle since it opened, had been traveling 25 miles to the Downers Grove site before that, a lovely place for a good pint, true irish pub experience, friendly staff and good food, great outdoor deck overlooking the river, a nice place for an outside dine.Large multiroom themed building, a nice size stage.Parking is available in the evenings at a lot down the block and across the street.
I used to meet with a group of friends here every week but we've been looking for a new place to go and we’ve noticed it not as packed as it used to be. We just went for the Monday night wings special which had ironically gone up in price. When we asked about the Martini special the waitress didn’t know what is was that night. One person ordered a sandwich which came with fries and coleslaw. When the food was brought out, the coleslaw wasn’t on the plate and when asked about it the waitress said they would have to make more. She came back awhile later with a ketchup cup of shredded carrots “slaw”. One person ordered Irish chips which are a usual favorite of the group but what we got was overcooked and very hard. When the waitress did refill drinks or remove plates from the table she would without speaking reached across and in front of people. We then sat waiting for a bit till she asked if we wanted our checks. The last interaction we had with her was her throwing a receipt with change on the table as she walked past. The wings tasted good but thats about it. Overall the dining experience was all rudeness and waiting for service.
My husband and I were in town for the Blues Fest . We stopped in Ballydoyle for lunch on Friday, the food was so good we were back there for lunch on Saturday. The chips were awesome. We will definitely go back. We are about 80 miles from there but thats not to far to go for a good meal.
The Aurora club is just as good as the Downers Grove club. Has the same friendly staff and great atmosphere. Plus good food, good service and wonderful live entertainment. Big stage, large dancefloor and plenty of seating.
Great place to hang!! Nice place. The atmosphere was really well. staff friendly. Will I go back, most definetly. The food was always great, atmosphere, terriffic and waitresses very friendly. I have many friends there, the people are all friendly. I would recommend this bar to everyone!!
We went there for a lite dinner before going to a show at Paramount. The service and the meal BOTH were excellent! My husband and I both had corned beef sandwiches that were the best we've ever had! Our waitress was very attentive and most accomodating. After the show at paramount we returned to see the band that was performing and had a great time singing and dance along with a number of other very friendly patrons. I would highly recommend Ballydoyles' for their food and entertainment!
