WOW!This restaurant is outstanding...why anyone would think it is not great or even good is beyond unreal. I have been there many times, especially for lunch. Their prices can't be beat!! They have such wonderful staff, and I agree with the last review it is VERY hommie and a welcoming place. The chefs make it a point to be scene in the main dining floor rather than staying behind scenes in the kitchen. I love this place! and will be coming in this weekend!
If you have something bad to say you must have gone to the wrong restaurant. Everything was amazing, the food, the staff, the place itself was beautiful and very homey. They definitely stole me over from Mint Leaf.
Best Indian food in Miami!!
I am totally SHOCKED at the bad reviews being left here! I have eaten at Indian Palate twice this month and I can only say great things about the food, staff, and decor. Th hand made freshly baked flat bread is AMAZING! The lunch buffet is hot, fresh, diverse and true to the traditonal dishes you would expect in an Indian restaurant. The wine list is impresssive. The staff is extremely attentive. The decor is elegant. This place is a gem amongst stones in the Gables. Totally worth the price-in fact its a steal!I am speaking to their event coordinator to have my Xmas party there this year. I am in the industry and would never take my associates there if it wasnt incredible. I love this place!
I agree with the last reviewer. This was a huge disappointment. I'd also note that the menu didn't have any decriptions of any of the dishes, which made the task for the staff even harder. They need to bring in a restaurant consultant immediately or they'll be gone in a matter of months. Gables diners won't tolerate this kind of place, so their numbers (and there weren't very many on the Friday night I was there) will dwindle quickly.
With three 5-star reviews, and me being a long-term Indian food lover, I thought this new restaurant in Coral Gables was definitely worth a try. Unfortunately, it was apparent as soon as we walked in the door that some or all of the previous reviews were somewhat biased. To begin with, the restaurant occupies a location that's housed several failed Italian and French restaurants. Rather than refinish the interior, the new owners used the tables, chairs, antiques and marble floors left by the Italian restaurant, giving it a feel of a somewhat run-down 80s Italian eatery. Next, the menu only offers sample plates, so as much as you might like to order your favorite indian delicacy, you have to have three others along with it. Finally, the food itself is poor. The quality of the meat was 3rd rate and the sauces 2nd rate. I had a shrimp appetizer, which was burnt and dry and three of the eight sample dishes we received were inedible. The highlight of the meal is the staff, who try very hard to please and obviuosly have their hearts in the restaurant. Overall, it's the third best Indian restaurant in the Gables, slightly behind House of India and miles behind Mint Leaf. I try to support independent restaurants, especially indian ones, but I won't be back because I'm convinced the other reviews are so far off the mark that they were posted by the restaurant marketing staff, which to me is unforgiveable. I do wish them success, but they'll have to learn how to run a restaurant very quickly to survive. Time to call in Gordon Ramsey!!!
