The center of WAILUKU is barely two miles west of Kahului, and there's no gap in the development along Ka'ahumanu Avenue to mark where one town ends and the other begins. However Wailuku, located as it is at the mouth of the fertile and spectacular 'Iao Valley and within a few miles of the lush valleys that line the windward coast of West Maui, has a very different geography and a much more venerable history.
