Most visitors to the Waikoloa resorts never head the eight miles up to WAIKOLOA VILLAGE itself. Should you want to do so, take the road that leaves Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway a short distance north of the resort turnoff, halfway to Mauna Lani. A small lot at this otherwise desolate intersection is the base for helicopter trips run for resort guests by Kenai Helicopters (tel 885-5833) and Blue Hawaiian (tel 961-5600), among others. There's nothing to the village apart from a supermarket, a gas station, a golf course, and the Waikoloa Highlands Village mall, which features a couple of snack places. more »
