Chances are, Kauai's capital, LIHU'E , will be both the first and the last place you see on the island. You'll probably pass through it several times during your stay as well. Set a mile or two back from the sea in the southeast corner of the island, it's the site of Kauai's main airport and harbor , and the midpoint of the highway that circles the island.
