Beyond Kapa'a, it's not possible to turn right from Kuhio Highway until just after the 13-mile marker, where a side road heads straight down to the sea then doglegs north. Anahola Beach County Park lies almost immediately below. The park is the southernmost stretch of the spellbinding curve of sand that rims Anahola Bay, sheltered by Kahala Point and therefore safe for family swimming (except in winter). Surfing is forbidden at this end, but boogie-boarders and surfers are free to enjoy the rest of the bay.
