After seeing Jake's on the Food Network, we decided to give it a try. It was fantastic. They do not have a big menu, but the dishes that they do have are fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. They have daily specials that are also creative and tasty. You can expect a wait because it is a small restaurant (a converted auto service station) and people like myself return often. Get there early (5:00pm) for dinner if you do not want to wait. The desserts are homemade on a daily basis by the chef's mom & are fantastic (especially the peach cobbler). We have never had a problem w/ service and the staff remembers and greets us warmly on each visit. Try the spinach dip w/ pita chips, salmon, oyster poy boy, fried green tomatoes, pork chop, fish & chips, etc. We have had them all. The only negative I can think of is that the later you get there, the more chance you have of something (especially some of the desserts) being sold out. I can't imagine anything less than 4 stars for Jake's although I give it a 5 star rating myself. Great family owned & operated establishment.
