Me and my husband go here every time we get paid. The food is worth the price, the wait may be a bit longer but the people there are great. The view from the dinning room is amazing, and they have live music some times. The decor may not be great but we always enjoy sitting at the bar and being able to play pool while chatting up the employees. Alot of people put the place down because it looks dated , but there is more to a place then decor. The people who own and work there are great, our glasses are always full, and the food is always hot and good.. nothing more you could ask for.
Sonny's place has to be one of the better restaurants that my wife and I have eaten at. The food is home made and the owner takes incredible pride in what he serves and trust me its worth waiting for. We sat back and enjoyed the incredible views of the mountains, what a better point to stop on a sunday drive, I highly recomend the rueben and my wife highly recomennds the tender mouth watering Brisket.
Where does one begin? WAY overpriced. We love ribs and this place was supposed to have good ones---if you can afford them. I live in a large city and a full rack will set you back less than $20. These ribs were nearly 30 dollars, so we didn't even order any.
When you see a menu where they brag about the garden in front of the restaurant and that they grow the vegetables for their salads right there, it is a bit disturbing that you get a plate full of grocery store ICEBERG LETTUCE (they claimed a fresh greens mix) AND FLAVORLESS GROCERY STORE TOMATOES. When we left, we looked at this garden and there were plenty of ripe home-grown tomatoes there, but not in out food.
Also, if you offer corn on the cob and give the customer some odd smoked corn that tasted as if it were frozen (with corn fields in season all over the area), you just wonder how many people have been duped by this place. Well, add two more to your duped list
The service is horrible. We waited forever for service, refills, ice for hot refills, order, not counting the very long wait for our food. Forget about getting the third refill for ice tea not going to happen.
If you get there after 5'00 pm. you cannot get a piece of bread for your bbq sandwich. They give you a bowl of bbq charge you 2.00 extra for some bbq sauce and 1.50 extra for a plain dry hamburger they you have to beg for. Hidden prices for everything. WATCH VERY CAREFULLY
THE PRICES ON THE MENU. They say sliced very thin ribeye for their ribeye sandwich, their sliced means shredded beef, with no mayo, no grilled onions,no lettuce, no tomato,or A1 sauce..I would have paid extra for a little beef drippings or something.
The guitar music was great and the mountains was a beautiful sight..
Great restaurant. I had this awesome Louisiana shrimp and blue crab spicy Bisque. My husband also had a bisque made with potato and heineken and cheese.I do not know much about BBQ but I had beef brisket sandwich and my husband had pulled pork. We loved the food.
