The old 'bait-n-switch'... an Average Greek Restaurant
With the Greek fishing village of Tarpon Springs only about half hour north from here there are several excellent Greek restaurants in the greater Tampa Bay area. This is not one!
This is a brand new restaurant and they are advertising a special on their lamb shank entree on Tuesday nights. We decided to give this restaurant a try. We also wanted to try the chargrilled octopus which neither of us have seen on a menu before.
We arrived at 7:15 PM one Tuesday night and tried to order the lamb shank special but our server gave us the classic... 'Sorry we are out of the special...'. This was also communicated to several other patrons around us.
My wife had stopped by at 4:30 PM that day to check the place out and they had told her that the special is during their dinner hours. Of course there was no one there at 4:30 and less then 10 tables with patrons when we arrived.
We tried the chargrilled octopus and found it to be a little tough... nothing to write home about and definitely not worth having again. After browsing through an uninspiring menu we decided we have frequented much better Greek restaurants and that they must really not want the business if advertising a fake special is how they think they are going to get people to come back.
Another word of warning. They allow smoking in the outside courtyard dinning area between their main restaurant and banquet hall. Any amount of breeze will carry that smoke into the areas near the windows.
