Disgusting! Terrible service, and too small portions. The owner, she is a piece of work. Rude and mean to customers. Will never give them our business again. Waiter we had was so snotty, his name is Marcelo I think? Waste of money if you ask me!
Out of this world. The white clam pizza cooked in a brick oven is top notch. All the food is homemade and authentic and very reasonably priced. Wouldn't go anywhere else in the area for good italian food except for here. Can be a bit slow at times, but worth the wait.
Great authentic italian food at great price. Newly built with homey feeling. Would have recieved five stars had the wait staff been more friendly and courtious. However hard to find good italian food at that price. Highly recommend.
My wife and I went to Carmines for dinner, it was our third visit. In our prior experiences the food had been delicious and the service satisfactory. On our second visit we were so pleased with our meals we bought a gift certificate as a Christmas gift.
This last occasion, it was busy with no tables in the dining room available, so we sat at a high top in the bar area. To start with, we ordered a mussel appetizer that was supposed to have “homemade dumplings”. The dumplings turned out to be nothing more than sliced bread which tasted as if it was made out of pizza dough. Not really a big deal, just a little disappointing.
Then our dinner came and the salad had never been served. The bar tender who was waiting on us said that it was her fault, she forgot. Ok, I understand, it happens. It was a busy night, she was tending bar and waiting on a few tables as well. We asked for the salads to be brought out anyway.
When the main entre came, I took the first bite of the pasta dish and thought; this will be another good meal at Carmines. After a few chews I noticed that there was a hair in with the pasta. I stopped eating; put it on the plate. A minutes later a waiter came by to ask how everything was. I picked up the hair and showed it to him. The response I was expecting to hear was “I am sorry, can I get you anything else” or something to that effect. Instead what we heard was “No one in the kitchen has long hair” in a snooty tone. He then picked up the dish, turned and walked away. My wife and I sat there and stared at each other in disbelief.
When the owner came over, I told her how offended we were by the waiter’s un-professional behavior. She apologized and then also made a comment that no one in the kitchen has long hair. I reminded her that the issue is not whether the chef has long hair or not, but that there was a hair. Also, the hair was not long; it was on the shorter side. She apologized again and asked if they could bring me another dish. I told her the pasta dish was very tasty and I wouldn’t mind a second try. The “second” dish was brought out and the chicken tasted as if it had been heated in the microwave. It makes me wonder if they just nuked the original dish. Also, I never got my salad. My wife did get hers.
From the appetizer, to the salad on to the main course the meal was disappointing. The service from the waiter who took my plate away was beyond rude. When the check came there was no adjustment made. I feel that if we go out for dinner and spend in one night close to what we would spend on groceries for a week, we should be treated with respect. So, I’m giving Carmine’s a low grade on the way they handled the situation. It’s not what I would expect from an upscale, family owned establishment. Needless to say, my wife says we will not go back.
