This place is the closest I have ever come to authentic fish 'n chips in the U.S. and I qualify that by stating that I was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales and consider myself a fine judge of chips. I have tried several dishes at Lil' Britain and not been disappointed as all were freshly cooked, delicious and competitively priced. Where else can you get real sausages with real chips?? I also bought a slack handfull of frozen meat pies to take home and found them to be delicious also. I live in Sturbridge, MA and often take motorcycle trips to southern Vermont during the spring/summer/fall seasons. If I'm anywhere near Bennington, I make a point to stop in for a meal and, now that they have a liquor license, a bottle of Bass to wash the chips down.
I am used to Fish n' Chips being from the Cape and all, plus living in Europe for over 2 years and all I have to say is yuck. The fish did not taste FRESH, but rather Frozen. Now if that's true, who would eat that style when I can just get Gordon's from the store and eat that. The seasoning on the fish was bland and same with the chips. Now I will be fair that the Chicken strips were ok, but how can you screw that up. I will give them a second chance as I believe everyone can have a bad day, but we'll see. Oh and do not get it to go... Got an order for my mom to take home and that was even worse.
