Took Bill to the Schnitzel Ranch (finally). University Drive near Red Lobster and Richard's Lighting. Definitely worth another visit! I had the jaeger schnitzel and mashed potatoes. Bill had the wiener schnitzel with pan fried potatoes. The schnitzel comes in either pork, or chicken. We both picked the pork, of course. It was thick, tender and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Not skimpy at all. The meat took up 3/4 of the plate! We both had to-go boxes. I have to tell ya, the jaeger gravy was fabulous with huge mushrooms (which I picked off, because I don't eat mushrrooms, but love the brown gravy). We didn't get a veggie because I think all they had to choose from was red cabbage, side salad, or sauerkraut. Don't like any of those, so we both ordered a double helping of potatoes. Wish they had green beans or peas, like my favorite restaurant in Germany. (: They also served a tiny, delicious, teaser slice of nutty brown German bread, plus a slice of rye that was chewy and moist, just like it's supposed to be. Definitely different from other local restaurants where they bring you an entire loaf. The teaser pieces just made you appreciate them more. I had the chocolate nusskuchen and Bill had the apple streudel for dessert. Mine was perfect, like pecan pie but 100x better, because of the chocolate filling and the flaky crust. Bill said his apples could have been a little sweeter, but it complimented his cup of coffee perfectly. Over all, it was a great German meal. Tons better than Ol' Heidelberg. $35 for both of us. It was pretty crowded, but the waitress (I'm assuming also the owner) was quick footed and friendly and she spoke German to those who tried.
