My girlfriend and I were there on 03/05/2011 when my son had his basketball tournament at the local school. I hadnt lived in town for over 17 years as I transferred from Camp Manistique, moved downstate and was amazed as to how the town changed. Because of that, we didnt know where to eat. We stopped at a few places but they were all closed and settled for what we could find that was open on the main street and lucked out. We had a delicious breakfast consisting of home made French toast, vanilla bean and jam; with great service and super conversation. Because I hadnt been there for over 17 years, I began conversing with not only the employees, but with the locals who were frequenting the place.
I resided for many years in the UP, but my girlfriend is from St. Clair Shores. The two of us live in Grand Haven (beautiful, but very stuffy people) and she was amazed as to how friendly the people in both the cafe and town were. I explained to her that the way of life in the UP is slower, less busy and filled with many kind and caring folks.
I wish I could go on and on, but I cant as this web site will only allow a limited number of characters, but in closing; thank you Cedar Street Cafe and Manistique for the walk down memory lane, it was wonderful-I promise to visit again!
