Every time I visit my parents, who have now retired and moved back home to Mobile AL, I visit The Boiling Pot on Airport Blvd. This place, beats all other Po'boys I have ever had, anywhere, hands down. Even the sauce they put on the sandwich is outstanding, the fresh flavor and seasonings of the shrimp is incomparable, and the bread is always fresh. The quantity is generous, so I don't complain about the price of the sandwich, because it's worth it. I also usually make a brief jaunt to New Orleans, and I am consistently disappointed with the Po'boys that I've eaten there. FYI: I've also tried Po'boys in Cleveland OH, SC, Nashville TN, and Bowling Green, KY. So far there are no contenders for The Boiling Pot on Airport Blvd., in Mobile Alabama.
Awesome place...I'm from Louisiana and I have to say eating good seafood out of state is a rare find but this place was great. It is very small, clean, and really knows how to please your tastebuds. The shrimp are huge and the streamed snow crab was excellent. I have to say the butter was totally different than anything I've every had. It was a gel type butter with a garlic taste and is a true treat. This place is very well worth going to and wished we had one around our home town. The price may seem to be a bit pricey but you totally get your money's worth and eating everything on your plate is not going to happen even if you are starving....LOVE THIS PLACE.
LOVE the one on Airport, but haven't been to the one on Tillman's. The food is always so good and the shrimp is fresh. We moved away for a short time and all I could think about was getting back to Mobile for the Shrimp Basket! A LOT of food for the money. It's never been greasy or gross, breading is always just right and their new grilled items are yummy.
I had been hearing about how awesome this restaurant is so I went for lunch with my husband.I was shocked at the amount of food for the price.I am not a seafood lover and I got chicken tenders and fries and it was amazing! The batter is so good.I brought over half home with me.My husband got half of the shrimp poboy and I have never seen so much shrimp on one plate in my life.We actually counted 52 shrimp on and around a 6 inch poboy for $8.00 and also got gumbo and said the gumbo was the best he has ever had.He couldn't finish all the gumbo and our daughter as she always does saw it when she came home from school and helped herself to it.I was waiting to see her reaction and she had a wow look and said it was amazing. The restaurant is clean and seating is similiar to Texas Roadhouse(wood tables and floor) but no servers. You get yout food when they call your ticket number. They do have fountain drink/tea station on both floors and I was very pleased with how friendly the staff was.Liked the idea of having a place to get where you don't have a server and have to leave a tip.We eat out alot and with a family of 5 it is nice to have a place to eat and not HAVE to spend an extra $10 on a tip Will definately be back
Lots of food if your looking for quanity not taste!!! We found the food to be way to salty and the place was nasty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I will stick to the locally owned seafood places so I know what I'm getting!!!!!!!!!!!! I will admit the Airport store wasn't quite as nasty as the one in Tillmans Corner!!!!
I'm a student at South but I was born and raised South of New Orleans so I've had my share of seafood and no lie, they were definitely at the top of the best tasting crawfish I've ever tasted (don't tell my Dad!) I also tried the crab claws, they were good but I wouldn't advise making a meal out of the platter because I don't think it'll be filling. The shrimp poboy is def worth the money, tons of food!
