We ate dinner here tonight. The service was friendly and wonderful and the margaritas were fierce. I had the veggie fajitas and they were yummy! It s not at all a fancy place but I highly recommend it! My husband thought the chips were a bit greasy and he didn t love the salsa, but he was wild about the beans and rice and he thought the flautas were really good. Try it, I don t think you ll be disappointed. And if you want something that s not on the menu, just ask. They do made-to-order items.
I am from Southern California as well and I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The food is great and the owners are very warm and welcoming. Cali has some great restaurants, but for our area, Guadalajara Restaurant is the best. If the food wasn't authentic you wouldn't see Hispanic patrons there. In fact, this restaurant has a very diverse clientele which speaks for itself! Needless to say, I love this place!!
I'm addicted to Mexican food. There, I said it. (the first step is admission) For years I've tried Mexican food from all over the United States. From New Mexico, Texas, Arizona just to name a few. The food served at Guadalajara would give any of those restaurants a run for their money. By far the best I've had in Sheboygan.
I'm an old standby kinda guy. If you can't get a taco right it's going to be kinda tough to get anything else right. I'd recommend the steak tacos with cilantro and onions. They have a number of sauces available but my favorite is the roasted tomato and pepper hot sauce they make themselves. Warning: It's hot, very hot. The tamales remind of of the tamales sold fresh by street venders in New Mexico. As good a tamale as I've ever had. They also serve a new fish taco that is outstanding. The batter on the fish is exactly what it should be for a fish taco. There is a nice selection of beer on hand (import and domestic) and they make a great margarita. I believe Tue and Wed have a happy hour (two for one drinks I think but don't hold me to that) and Thursday night is ladies night margaritas.
The atmosphere is open and authentic. The staff is exceptionally friendly. I can only think of one night I had to wait an unusually long time for my food. It was a Friday, the place was packed and it gave me an excuse to have another beer or two as well as more chips and salsa than I should have had before my meal but the wait wasn't all that long.
This place is really a hidden jewel but easy to get to. Guadalajara sits just south of the Indiana Ave./8th street circle on the east/lake side of 8th street. I hope Guadalajara's contines to have great success and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
Very good service and food! All of the staff there are very friendly and accomodating. Lots of food for not very much money! Definitely would give them my business again - hope to see them make a go of it.
We live only a few block from this place but had never eatten there. A co-worker recommended it, so we decided to give it a try and were not disappointed! The salsa tastes really fresh, and is very tasty. Price is pretty good, especially for taking half my meal home. Service was good too; gave us time to make our selections, but got our check quickly when we were ready to go. Drink menu offered some interseting options, but didn't try one. Maybe next time!
