Reservations are accepted for the main dining room only.
Am a Gloucester boy home on vacation had dinner there tonight, 15 Sep 2012. Misty my server was fantastic. Started with roasted tomato bisque. It was lukewarm at best, bland and tasteless. It was like tomato puree out of a can. Then I had the baked haddock. Tasteless. The topping seemed to be an after thought after the fish came out of the oven - mushy. Save your money and go somewhere else. NOTE: I wrote this same review on the back of my check, signed my name and left my phone number. Misty read it and said she d pass it on to the manager so this should be no surprise to them.
All of the restaurants in this chain--Latitude 43, Alchemy, Calas, Hale Street, and more--all located on the north shore are inconsistent and lackluster. The dishes are mainly overproduced and bland, or worse. They tend to try to do too many things and are not very good at any. The spaces and decor tends to be nice but the food is mostly lacking. I have not had any problems with the waitstaff in the past.
I have given this restaurant 3 shots at impressing me, all to no avail. I tried to space out my visits hoping they would work out their kinks but no such luck. The food is less than average, seriously. They have no business asking the ridiculous prices they are asking. Every part of our meal was terrible including the salad. If they would put as much money into the food as they do the decor, well then, maybe they would have something but their focus is all wrong. McT's food blew this place out of the water and they were much more affordable. I could care less about the decor, it still has the same view. Come back McT's
I am at home eating a bowl of cereal after one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I ordered a salad without onions. It came with onions. I ordered the lamb chops without garlic, which turned out not to be possible. I asked to see the menu so I could look over the flavorings on the steak. Our waitress, who was in a big hurry, said she would bring the steak plain with all its accompanying flavorings on the side. The steak came smothered with flavorings. When I again told her it was necessary for me to know what was on the steak our waitress who had an attitude that was as ugly as she was good looking, took the steak and went off in a huff. A chef scraped off the steak and brought it back to me as if the onion (shallot) flavor would evaporate. No one offered to make things right and a gentleman in a chefs “costume” told me it was my fault. The manager was too busy to speak with me. Everyone makes mistakes, but they seem to full of themselves to care about their customers.
Finally was able to get to lat last week with my husband and another couple. Even thou i have heard mixed reviews i kept my expectations high...to be quickly dashed. For starters it took the waitress forever to come and get our drink order then even longer to take our food order .... I ordered the fresh catch of the day which was Halibut which was fishy, dry and obviously frozen ... and i know i am in the seafood industry.. the proscuitto that accompanied the halibut was like tree bark unable to eat it. My husband had prime rib although the beef was good the grissle was like plentiful. Brother in-law had steak tip sub but oddly enough the sub roll never arrived with it ????.. Sister in-law had salad which was ok... we decided to for-go dessert and run.... so dissapointed after being opened well over a year you would think they would have it together p.s. the bread-runner brought bread -with our meal... will not be returning!!!!!
