My Fiancé and I came to dinner here after he coached a basketball game in Pacifica. It was on our way home and we decided it would be a great impromptu 'date night'. We had come by earlier in the year; however, it was closed for renovations.
This restaurant kept the same name but it is under a new ownership and they sure have turned it into something special. It wasn't very busy on a Friday night which was too bad because the atmosphere is fantastic. The decor is beautiful - I love the Jellyfish lamps from the ceiling and the open spacious floor plan.
We were led upstairs where we sat by the window serenaded by a HARP player! How wonderful, he even takes requests and knows a lot of Jim Croce.
We were waiting on by a young waiter in his early 20's and he was just a real sweetheart. I had the world's worst headache when I came in and was desperate for some aspirin. He brought me some caffeine and even offered to run across the street to grab me a pack of Advil so we didn't have to get up. So nice right?
On to the food. My fiancé ordered a nice Cab and I ordered a Martini, which was served ice cold and it was a fairly decent pour which made me very happy after this long week. Cocktails are expensive when you eat out and there is nothing worse than a tiny pour on a Friday night. I find it offensive when you order a drink at a restaurant and they whip out the little measuring cone for your vodka. So that was lovely.
We started with the Firecracker oysters which are awesome! Creamy and delicious. We shared the Chowder which was FABULOUS. I'm not sure why Sam's gets all the hype, but Crab Landing offers three different varieties - he let us taste the Rhode Island clam chowder which was great - it's basically like low carb and no cream. Perfect for the wedding diet I'm on.
Dinner was a splurge but it was excellent. I had the whole cracked crab which was served with hot butter and cooked perfectly. Derm had the Prime Rib which was enormous; we wound up taking it home and snacking on it for like two days. We had filled up on the appies and bread though, so maybe that's what. Dermot mentioned that the veggies were cooked to perfection. He likes them soft and seasoned.
On our way out the manager came by our table and asked how everything was and we chatted him up a bit, he was a super nice guy and we told him we would be back. In fact we will be back this weekend as he is another big game at HMB high school.
I can't wait to try some other things on the menu; they had some sandwiches that look awesome. They also have an awesome bar up top that faces the ocean!
