I was looking online for a new restaurant to take my wife too. Like you I saw this place had great reviews so I thought why not give it a try. Don t do it! Herd the microwave consistently running! Calamari was like chewing gum! I spent a lot of time on the east coast so I know my Italian food! If you have some extra cash and want to impress your lady go to Carmelas in San Marcos, the food and atmosphere is great! You don t need to order appetizers the main course comes with both soup and a salad. End the night with there canolie s they are the best I have had on the west coast! Trust me I love food I won t steer you wrong!
We eat here every saturday night with our friends. The food is fantastic and the the family who owns this place are wonderful. I highly recommend this place. You can not beat the specials and their pizza's are fantastic! Bring the whole family and you will be sure to have a good time. You will be surprised at how good it is! Medina's is Escondido's secret but not for long! Bring your friends and be ready to enjoy a real Italian experience!
After reading the two reviews that were posted we went to Medina's while on vacation at the Welk Resort. Wonderful food! We had the Salmon Fettucini and the Pizza Four Ways. Loved the prosciutto pizza - better than bacon pizza by far!. Don't let the strip mall fool you - worth stopping here for great Italian food.
Having been raised in an East Coast Italian neigborhood, (though I am not Italian), and having Italian godparents who cooked wonderfully, I consider myself well versed in Italian cooking of all types. We had known that Medina's was open for many years, but my family had never eaten there. My wife and I found ourselves craving Italian food on a Monday, a day when many restaurtants traditionally are closed. I thought of Medina's and we went over for dinner. The dining room is authentically Italian, with some very effective wall murals. Mr. Medina, the owner, takes orders and brings the food. To tell you we were surprised with the quality and good taste of the food is not doing my comment justice. We have, over the last two months, three of the veal courses, two of chicken, the shrimp scampi, and my personal favorite, linguine with red clam sauce, a real taste treat, complete with little clams on their shells. The prices are very moderate and the food is terrific. We have sent other friends there, and they agree. Try Medina's for a very good dining experience.
