My wife and I have been to this small treasure several times.and have enjoyed the food, entertainment and atmosphere every time. The pollo al ajillo is fantastic! We had a wonderful conversation with the owner. We will be back and would highly recommend this restarurant!

This restaurant is in a great location and close to the races and slots. However being of African descent myself I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else who may be. The owner is a racist ignorant person that believes we are beneath him. I arrived to a rude waitress who made me wait even though there were empty tables, was charged for flat bread I never ordered and when I complained about it the owner came out and was very rude and gave my children dirty looks and still walked away and called me the "N" word under his breath!!

definitely a hidden gem! We love Mediterranean Cafe. It is quiet, romantic restaurant on the main street. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. You will not be disappointed, I promise! I have been there with my family for a nice night out around town, and I have taken friends there to enjoy their live music and their fabulous food. The service is great too.

The Mediterranean Cafe is our favorite local restaurant. The world music, the eclectic atmosphere, the friendly staff, and, most especially, the glorious food are what keep us coming back time after time. The live entertainment on weekends is a special treat, whether it's excellent local musicians or exotic belly dancers. The chef-owner is always warm, relaxed, and accommodating. We've never had a meal that wasn't generous and superb in quality. The kids are always happy with their choices on family nights, and when we go alone on date nights, The Med sets a wonderful mood for relaxation and communion. The community is lucky to have such a gem, and our family will be loyal customers as long as Alfredo's door is open.

This is not meant as a backhanded comment on Charles Town, but probably the most apt word to describe finding the Mediterranean Cafe on Washington St is "surendipitous." In a small town where the "nice" chain restaurant is a Ruby Tuesday's, stumbling upon an authentic mediterranean restaurant has been a pleasure for both my wife and myself. The place itself is small and quaint and that has translated into very attentive service and a comfortable dining experience. The food is excellent and a very good value; $8-9 for lunch dishes, $12-15 for dinner entrees. I cannot recommend the lamb and chicken highly enough, in any dish. The Cafe also offers cuisine from other Mediterranean countries- Italian, Spanish, Greek, in addition to the Middle Eastern dishes. So far we have stayed with the Greek and Middle Eastern cuisine. But as we are now regulars, we are certain to try the entire menu. I do not believe they serve alcohol, but do allow patrons to bring their own bottle of wine. Stop by the Wine and Cheese store across the street to pick up a bottle of regional wine and invite some friends to enjoy this excellent little cafe! Charles Town is an up and coming little place; if it is to realize its potential, the success of diverse cuisine such as that provided by the Med Cafe is a key component.

Just went to this restaurant for the first time. Service was good, food was fantastic! Started with some bread which was served with olives, feta cheese and hummus. While I'm not usually a fan of hummus, this was made with garlic and was incredible! Then I had Sausage stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer which were 4 huge mushrooms stuffed with a tasty sausage filling. Kabob-e-Koobideh and chicken kabob was very good as well. Highly recommended!

wow, this was the best food that I have had in a long time. The resturant was clean and the service was wonderful. I highly recommend it. I had a chicken dish with angle hair pasta, capers, a lemon butter sauce and artichoke. I don't even like artichokes but these were great.

I've been eating here regularly on the weekends since they opened. I go for the kabobs. The chicken is great, but my favorite is the lamb kabob. EIther with rice or with the flatbread...its frikkin fantastic!!! ok, and get this - they have this yogurt drink - i know, i know - u'd think it would be syruppy and sweet/thick, like those danimals for kids, right - but this is an adult version - definitly NOT sweet, slightly biting/tart and salty with a bit of carbonation - it really helps the food go down. Anyway, I saw a couple of guys there order it and asked them about it, they said it something u get used to, not a flavor that comes easy...but man, I frikkin love it. TRY THE PLACE - its easily the most unusal and tasty food around this town. And the service is good too - with a smile.

I'm rating this one as good since I've only been once. My wife liked her gyro and I liked the beef kabob. I didn't like the hummus, but that might be a matter of taste. I'd definitely go back. Went back a few weekends ago. I brought my folks. I joke about "poking the bear" when my dad is hungry. We stayed there for one and a half hours and at no point did he get upset with the service. This place makes you feel very welcome. The waitress brought out plastic spoons for my 7 month old to play with. The food was just as good this time I went, so I will upgrade the rating to Excellent. It's little places like this that make me appreciate this area.
