If you are in downtown Valparaiso, I suggest checking out the Black Bird Cafe, Silver Spoon or South bend Chocolate Company instead of Cornucopia. I just left there after having their mimosa and waffle Sunday breakfast,(which I was very excited about) and was sorely disappointed. It was $11 dollars for 1 plain waffle and 1 glass of mimosa and a fast food style packet of syrup, for my wife and I to eat the Sunday special was $22. The waffle was very dry to eat with the tiny amount of syrup in packet, and the little glass of mimosa. The people working looked annoyed I was interrupting their conversation and were pretty unfriendly. I like supporting local business, and I have been their several times, but I find the service and the prices of their food do not add up. I do like the look of the place, but it's not that unique that its a reason to go there. After we left the disappointing breakfast at Cornucopia we walked over to South Bend Chocolate Company and got wonderful service and great tasting coffee.
What a new entertainment gem to our cultural Valparaiso downtown district. Great Food, Great Service and most importantly.. Great Coffee! This place is soon to be a THE Coffee House to be served and seen. Congrats Wendy & Rich!
Valparaiso Theatrical Company Thanks you for hosting a wonderful evening for our fundraiser.
We have been regulars since November 2009 and have always been served promptly and courteously. The staff remembers our drinks and calls us by name.
The espresso is the best, by far, in the area. We have never had a single complaint about the food. The sandwiches are so large that we usually have to take leftovers home. The pretzel bread avocado BLT is a favorite and so is the blackened chicken sandwich.
We do not hesitate to rate this highly and recommend you try Cornucopia. We think you'll become a regular too.
Do NOT visit this coffee shop. Send your money elsewhere! I was not impressed by the conduct of the staff or the quality of the food. I purchased 4 cold sandwiches which took over 25 minutes to prepare, when only three other customers were in the shop. When, at last, my order was received, I discovered that the meal had been prepared incorrectly and that several ingredients were missing. My mother kindly requested a refund from the manager who blatantly refused, insulted her with a rude remark, and slammed her plate on the counter. The manager was proud, rude and disrespectful and never apologized for the long delay or the poor service.
I have found a new hangout in downtown Valpo. Cornucopia has by far the best coffee in town, it is always hot and fresh. The owners have done a wonderful job making the cafe homey and warm. You should stop in and see the changes inside. I love to spend time and read the papers (provided), do crosswords, visit with the other guests, or read my book. The owners are very gracious and the employees always courteous. The owners are strong supporters of DT Valpo and compliment other businesses, even their competitors. Tonight I will stop by for the music. This reminds me of the old Court Restaurant in its heyday. Only better.
What a GREAT time we had last night @ Cornucopia Coffee! We didn't let the weather stop us from listening to Keith Scott w/John who are both fantastic blues artist. The cost was minimal and the guitar performances wonderful. This is the new hot spot to go for superb entertainment and an extremely intimate atmosphere. The best small amount of money I've ever spent to enter a first class show. Try the carrot cake (it's fantastic) and the best coffee one can get in Valparaiso, maybe all of NorthWest Indiana!!!! Look for Cornucopia's next event or better yet give them a visit as they are the nicest people you will ever meet!
THANK YOU CORNUCOPIA
On a random night, our girlfriends and I wanted coffee. I nixed the Starbucks stop by saying lets go to a local spot. Hello Cornucopia! Krysten was our coffee maker. I discovered her name by making a few stops since then. It was delicious!! The foam was great, and surpassed Starbucks by a mile!! Highly recommended!
That troutman seems a bit fishy ! 8O)
This place is truly a gem! From the coffee to the menu you will not find a better place in the area. I have been fortunate enough to have a chat with the owners, Rich and Wendy. These are very genuine and nice people who care about quality and community. Whether you live in or are just traveling through Valparaiso, IN, be sure to stop in to Cornucopia Coffee if you enjoy a quality product from quality people.
