I am not sure what kind of food the people who have wrote previous reviews are accostumed to eating...maybe Burger King but this was an absolutely amazing meal! I think a lot of people think of Dolce as a special occasion place especially when you see how beautiful the decor is but that is so wrong. I can't think of another place in Huntsville where you are going to get such fresh and oh so scrumptious food at such a great price. After talking with our server who took care from us from the time we walked into the door to making sure we didnt forget our umbrella as we were leaving was telling us about several of their specials they have throughout the week and I don't know why more people aren't taking advantage of them. A few that I can remember are half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays and half off liquor on Thursdays...can't beat that! The service was absolutely spot on very friendly and upbeat but not overly intrusive. Now to the important part the food...couldn't have asked for a better meal!! I must say my husband and I over indulged starting with the Burrata platter which was this creamy cheese that you make little sandwiches with. I had the soup of the day and my husband had the arugula salad that was light but very rich in flavor esp with that little kick of gorgonzola cheese. For our entrees I had the Beef tip gnocchi which was like little pillows of heaven that just melts in your mouth. My husband had the Pork Tenderloin that had a little bit of sweetness to it with the most savory mashed potatoes that had sausage mixed in...a perfect addition to the plate. For dessert we had the banana split and the burbon chocloate pecan pie with some pretty amazing white chocolate martinis with a little heart design on top. We had an amazing meal and can't wait to go back again!
I don't know how to explain how horrible, disappointing and god awful the food at Dolce is. It's beyond crap. Each entree brought back memories of chef boyardee and those long college nights when cold ravioli in a can was still considered passable. Only eat here if you have masochistic tendencies or are in need of pennance for some mortal sin. Other than that, there is nothing and I mean nothing this place has to offer. (Other than diarrhea and nausea.)
This is the worst Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at and I am not an Italian food snob. The service was slow and the food was blah and not imaginative. Not to mention way over priced. The humus was really bad. I will not return again
My husband and I thought we'd give them a try when we couldn't get into our favorite Connors. We waited in the entry for 10 minutes but no one seemed interested in seating us although there was plenty of room. Too bad because we were looking for a nice alternative. We won't waste our time going there again.
Dinner on April 10. Bartender completely missed a classic drink but got it right on 2nd try. Delicious meals of fresh cheese, beef, veal, potatoes, etc. The Italian Banana Split was such a treat. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. An enjoyable experience. Would go again in a heartbeat.
The food is way overpriced and too expensive especially for the small proportions you get that will leave you hungry after the meal. You don't even get a salad with the overpriced meal nor do you even get real bread, you just get a couple tasteless cubes to dip in balsamic vinaigrette which was only brought after we had to ask for it. Even after lowering their prices somewhat it is still way too expensive for what you get. The food is pretty good but the proportions are just way too small especially for the price.
You could go on Sundays for half off of everything which was nice and the puny sized meals were a little easier to swallow at the reasonable prices but then they changed the half off to Mondays and don't tell you on their website nor did they answer the telephone when we called to find out and we wasted a trip up their after finding out the day changed. There was nobody eating there on Sunday night so it is obvious people think they are too expensive paying regular prices for what you get. They really should just do the half off deal both Sundays and Mondays or they are going to end up going out of business like the overpriced Ketchup restaurant next to it. We will not be going to Dolce again.
Great atmosphere! Our server was totally awesome, very nice and knew what she was doing without being overbearing.
The food... well it was okay. It was good, but nothing to brag about.
Definitely go on Sunday - you can not beat the 50% off.
This is a very romantic place to go, so don't bother if you're single. I went there with some single friends, and while the bartender was funny and nice, it didn't make up for the stares we got from the couples at the candlelit tables. Not to mention the prices were outrageous, but then again, it is a foo-foo restaurant. Perfect for an anniversary or other romantic meal.
