Its hard for me to understand how someone can write a review about a place like Hanks where we have never had bad service, always have had excellent food and environment. I guess if there was a bartender who was busy and got sidetracked I would walk up to the bar and get a menu and drink so when she got a chance to come to the table I would be ready to order. Some people will always have a bad day no matter how good it is. Go to Hanks, eat excellent food, and feel the love! Seasonal Residents - The Vanderhoffs
I have been to Hurricane Hanks many many times and have been quite pleased, however tonight I had the worst experience ever. My husband and I got there around five o'clock, we walked inside and the barmaid said have a seat and I'll be with you in a minute. We waited at least 15 minutes for her to come to our table( without menus) she said she was sorry for the wait that nobody told her we were there, after she was the one that told us that she would be with us in a minute. She took our drink order and returned with our drinks and menus. After about 5 minutes she returned to take our order. I ordered a cuban sandwich and she proceeded to say that was her favorite while writing it down. My husband ordered a blackened fish rueben with black beans and rice. After about a 15-20 minute wait another waitress came to the table with my husbands order but not mine and she ask me what did I order and I told her a cuban. I told my husband to go ahead and eat so that his wouldn't get cold, then the barmaid came over and said that she overlooked our order and that it was her fault and she was sorry. After another 10 minutes the other waitress came with my order so I said to her that my husband was half finished his meal and was both of the orders on the same ticket and she quickley became defensive pointing her finger towards the other girl and said she overlooked the order somehow. I understand that everyone makes mistakes but we were the only two people in the restaurant area at the time and we just wanted to know how the kitchen got my husbands order and not mine when they were both on the same ticket but nobody seemed to have an answer and even cared to find one. We have brought many of our friends there and have told many others what a great place it was, but now I'm not so sure I will ever return ,nor will I recommend it to any of my friends. It's to bad that two employees that don't care could cause you to loose two loyal customers and some that we will never refer. The food was good but the service ruined it. Maybe you just need some new employees
We visit FL at least once a year. This time we took my mother & father in law. We went to Hurricane Hank's once for dinner & enjoyed it so much - we went back the next day for lunch. The food was incredible & you get ALOT of it for a great price. My favorite is the club salad-I think it might be named the Hurricane Salad? Anyways-YUMMMYY! My father & mother in law got the fish & chips - which they said was the best they have ever tasted. Our waitress was funny & friendly & the owner even came by to see if we needed anything. We sat at the Tiki Bar for a little bit & listened to the band after dinner. It was a terrific atmosphere! Very relaxing & fun. I cant wait to go back :)
Went to Hurricane Hanks to see for myself how good it was. I read all the reviews and wanted to form my own opinion. This is my own opinion !
The atmosphere was very nice !
The band was excellent.
They were not busy, that night, so the service was alright.
I ordered Prime Rib, That was very good, the mashed potatoes were a small scoop of bad tasting mashed something. They should have baked potatoes but they don't.
My wife ordered Coconut Shrimp along with her girlfriend, and were both over done and sort of burn't looking. Her sweet potatoes were mushey and burn't. We also had French Onion soup that we thought was good, but, the soup was also burn't on top. I think that if they get some different kinds of potatoes, like baked, and served regular mashed potatoes instead of those foul tasting ones they serve they would be better off. But, I liked the people there, and like sitting outside and eating, So I think I would give them another chance. I am hoping the next time they don't burn & overcook the food, Because the food I think was good, Just burn't. So, That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
Went there with a bunch of gals yesterday - this is our second time there and NOW OUR LAST TIME THERE. We thought – Ok, the first time they're busy and too cheap to have more employees to serve the customers - it happened again last night and that was the final straw!! Service at the lower bar was lousy - took forever for them to take your drink order and then to try and pay your tab so you can leave, took a ridiculous time - they did find the time to chat with the locals - bad move, we all noticed that and couldn't believe it - should have been working harder to make sure we all got our orders - it 's not professional. The bar maid also picks and chooses who she wanted to help over whoever is there first in line - another unprofessional move. Owner/Mngr of this bar needs to wake up, loosen their pocket and put out some money to get another gal to work the bar - you'll make a lot more people happy. I don't care if anyone tries to leave a comment to my honest rating of this place - because instead of wasting your time defending the place - why not take it as a chance to improvement! I’ll let all who I talk to know what is happening – and they need to find a better local bar who appreciates their customers instead of ignoring them.
Anyone who takes the time to read the reviews - please take note - they've done it twice to us and we'll never go again - so now there's four more chairs open for the next poor souls who go there thinking they will get good service - sorry, but you probably won't....
My wife and I were there on Sat. 5/07 and we had a fantastic time..!
Service could not have been better and the crabs were perfect as
were the appetizers. The band did oldies and the place really rocked
to Elvis tunes. When a fine lady in her cowboy hat jumped up to line dance the whole place was on the dance floor in seconds.
BTW - we had just left very rude service at the bar at Inn on the Gulf !
Just left there. We waited a bit for simple ice tea. Were given menus and we were told she would be right back to take our order. Over 15 minutes passed, more than 20 since we sat down, and my boyfriend said we will give her another minute. Well almost 5 more passed and there was no sign of her so we got up to leave. I Stepped into the bar area to let someone know we were leaving and there was no one even behind the bar. So we just left. The waitress was no where to be seen the whole time. Yes it was busy, however, this same sort of thing happened about 6 months ago. We did eat there at that time and the food was good not great. Thought we'd give it another chance. Never again. By the way, we eat out anywhere from 2-6 times a week. Live less than two miles away. I cannot remember getting up and just leaving before because service was terrible. Also, the business that I am in I meet for the first time about 3-10 families in this area a week. The conversation often ends up talking about area restaurants and I certainly will never recommend this place. My boyfriend said it was the same waitress as the first time. Go figure.
