I'm not one to write reviews or criticize about restaurants, but my girl friend is addicted to Sushi and we eat at sushi restaurants once or more a week. When Sakura first opened we went there often and got the lunch special which was a good deal. After a few weeks the service started to act rude and we were good tippers. After that we started to order carry out because we like the sushi but not the service. To see if the service changed she went there a few months after and ordered spicy tuna maki and it did not have the right smell so she would not eat it and they refused to take it back even. Even another customer at another table stated the same thing. We decided to give them one more chance last week. After they sat us they never asked if we wanted something to drink, my girl friend had to ask for something. The server gave us a bad attitude and we ended up walking out. I do not believe we will be eating at this restaurant in the future. I suggest other restaurants.
This place is great. The food is SO good and the service couldn't be better. Me, my husband and 3yr old daughter went. She had a meltdown and the staff took care of her by taking her to the fish tank and even helping her eat just so we could eat quietly!!!! Just amazing! It was such a nice place and the people were fantastic!!!! They helped expand our tastbuds by explaining everything! It's very cute inside and you forget where you are!
Favorite sushi by far, I wouldn t trust most sushi places in town- have had poor food, bad service, dirty places- but we have frequented sakura since they opened and they have consistently had fresh fish, beautiful presentation (we have seen people taking photos of their plates for the flamboyant presentation) and the same friendly servers. We have been treated to free green tea or desert more than once for our continued business. Prices are very fair as well, the all-you-can eat special cannot be topped for how generous the pricing and portions are.
I cant say I understand in the least the bad reviews- rice had no taste ... really? its rice...
And there was a short period of time they had new servers during dinner hours- and I ll admit I didn t like them- but they are gone now.
Because of the Review I thought I give it a try. Compare to salisbury sushi, they are average. Compare to New York and Virginia they suck. Rice was plain with no taste. There was very little fish in the sushi. I am a sushi lover and I am tellling you the truth. I would not go there again.
Sakura is wonderful! I never expected to find a gem like this tucked into a shopping center strip mall. The restaurant is small but cozy with eclectic and quaint decor. The service and presentation of food is amazing: our waitress was charismatic enough to convince my picky husband to try the sushi, then brought us a few pieces free. She hand ladled sukiyaki into bowls right there at the table, and my husband's teriyaki was beautifully laid out on the plate. The portion sizes were incredible for the price and the food was delicious and so much more authentic than the fare at Asian-themed steak-houses and buffets.
