Using Carrabba's for our Rehearsal Dinner was a huge mistake. THEY screwed up our reservation. We reserved their outdoor room months in advance, giving them a credit card number so that they would reserve the entire room for our party exclusively. When we arrived, they were still seating people in our private party area. We spoke to the manager that evening (Nigel) asking him to stop seating people in our room. He continued to seat people in our area, explaining that Carrabba's hadn't run the aforementioned credit card, so there was no downpayment for the entire room. This is obviously Carrabba's fault and this manager should have taken steps to rectify the situation. Instead he was unacceptably rude to my family and friends.
If that weren't enough, the service was unbelievably slow - we were ordering from a set menu and still were not served for two hours. Our drinks were not refilled for the first two hours we were seated as well. We had to ask them to bring out the cakes we'd dropped off earlier, which were supposed to be displayed on our arrival.
I wouldn't recommend coming here on a normal night - the service is slow, the food is only so-so, you'd have better luck at Macaroni Grill or the Olive Garden for the same price. But NEVER use them for special events. They lack the managerial experience and professionalism to handle it.
WAS a favorite high-end place to take the family. But as in life, these things are always the same - namely, you don't find out what kind of folks you are dealing with until something goes wrong.
We waited seemingly forever the last time we went, waited some 30 minutes for my daughter to join us, and it was STILL a long wait thereafter to get our order taken.
I had my favorite, shrimp and scallops. This time however, they were pitifully small, perhaps little more than a half-portion serving. Too late to send it back though - the waitress had left in the blink of an eye.
So, we began our meal and at the next opportunity, I mentioned to the waitress I wished to speak with the manager. She INSISTED I needed to explain why to her first - and I accommodated. On the whole she was quite indifferent.
Lots of time passed, meal over, and no manager. I asked the waitress when she stopped by the table to bring the check and she stated quite matter-of-fact, they knew the items were sub-standard so they compensated by putting an extra on the plate!
This was over a year ago and they are still in business as far as I know, but surely, after treating customers like this I cannot imagine they will stay in business much longer. Quite frankly I look forward to their folding so I can see who steps up to the plate.
All I know is, if I lived to be 200 years old, I would NEVER consider going back there. I didn't write a letter of complaint or seek to fill out a customer satisfaction card because I don’t think this kind of behavior warrants a second chance - so instead I vote with my wallet.
Thinking back from writing this, actually this was not even the first incident. There were a couple others -- not bad service either, but once I recall the cook actually came out and started yelling (!) after a waitress brought a bowl of grated cheese to the table (it was left out of an entrée).
Good food, I have to say yes, but as I stated, the measure of worthiness is usually most apparent when things DO NOT go as they should, and I have no desire to ever see these folks again.
