Please, Please don't waste your money at this place. The food was very bland and needed some flavor and thought.... The service was horrible. In fact, the cooks brought more food out than the one very tiny waiter did. The food preparation area was extremely dirty and needed to be cleaned. The spouse had a terrible sandwich.
Did I mention don't waste your money here??????
The only thing going here was that the door was very easy to open so we could escape.....
Mr. Belly Ache.....
I do not recommend this place to anyone.
The service from the waiter was not bad he was helpful and respectful. From here it went downhill. The place smelled horrible. There were flys in the restaurant with cold cut meats laying on one of the tables not covered. I observed some pieces of cold meats on the floor. One of the employees was cutting a meat that seemed to be raw with a cutting board and a knife and then these same utensils were used to cut one of the sandwiches I ordered without being washed. Another employee picked up some fries that seemed like they had been sitting there for sometime because there were no other customers when we arrived and threw them into the fryer just to reheat them.
The employees with the exception of our waiter were all unprofessional. They were horsing around the whole time we were there. One of them hit another one of them in the crouch and with the door to the backroom open I observed another one of the employees laying on the ground.
To end my review, the wife and I just told the waiter that we didn't want the order and took off.
This was the first time I went to a sandwich shop and they didn't have bread (well except for rye). My sandwich was horrible and the taste of bologna was overbearing.
My girlfriends sandwich came out another 45 min later for which there is no excuse considering it was a veggie sandwich.
Our server was also a moron. Plain and simple.
There are plenty of better places to get a sandwich in El Paso. I even recommend Jack in the Box's sandwiches over Chubby's.
First time and last time I will go there.
i was visiting dtr in El Paso, and im from Ohio...they took us there it was GREAT!!!! the sandwiches are huge, couldnt eat it all,and the guys were so nice, had a good conversation with them! go eat there!you wount be disappointed.
MAN!!!!!! Excellent deli hop. My wife and I were looking for a deli shop to get that awesome deli taste out of a sandwhich. We stumbled up on Chubby's. The shop was very inviting and personal. We enjoyed our outstading deli experience. The food is greaet.
Finally got to Chubby's. I am originally from the NY area and am happy to finally have found a decent sandwich shop in this town. Huge sandwich for the price and the onion rings were excellent. I also have no problem with being served as a former waitress who did so to work my way through college. So be kind to your server!
Great Sandwiches, HORRIBLE service.
I do not understand why a casual deli feels the need to provide table service. This is not fine dining and it seems trained waiters are in short supply in El Paso.
This place would get 4 stars if they provided counter service, where I order my sandwhich and just pick it up when it's ready like Taco Cabana or Pei Wei.
A couple of co-workers and I tried out Chubby's on Boston and Oregon for lunch on Tuesday, Oct. 21. All three of us ordered the Rueben with Pastrami. All three were thouroughly impressed. Massive sandwich, great bread, great flavor. While the $9 price tag might leave some questioning their decision, we all agreed it was worth every penny. ***UPDATE*** I couldn't wait to take the wife to Chubby's. We were coming in from Phoenix on Sat. Oct 25 and decided to stop by for a sandwich. We both order the Rueben, the same way as Tuesday. The sandwich was one third the serving from Tuesday, if that!!! The onion rings were greasy. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I'm sitting there hoping that all the people I recommended this place to haven't made it by yet. I told the staff upon checking out and they asked if I had come in a few weeks ago. I suppose an excuse was coming. I told them we were in just Tuesday. They said a different cook was working tonight. I told them that if they were out of pastrami the waiter should have told us so. They offered to let me speak with the owner. I declined and advised them that speaking to the owner should never be necessary. There are too many others to speak to. I just hope the same does not happen to you. One outstanding review and one poor review, average at best.
