This is just a great place to eat at a VERY reasonable price. In my opinion a comparison of this buffet with others such as the Country Harvest is akin to comparing a Mercedes to a Yugo. You SEE everything being prepared, the ingredients are the highest quality you'll find on a buffet (especially the Angus steak), and there is a huge selection with some items on the menu daily (my favorite is the grilled chicken livers) and others offerred as specials on certain days. The staff is obviously well trained, courteous and helpful, and the managers not only actually LISTEN to your recommendations but they encourage them. I see them frequently checking temperatures on the buffet line and thus feel safer eating here than other establishments. I guarantee you can't eat this well for the price at home: I eat here at least three times a week and would eat here daily if it were closer.
If you're a senior citizen, the prices are even better, and you're treated with dignity and respect. If you're a veteran, you'll learn what these people are all about on their Military Appreciation Monday held every November. ALL veterans get a free dinner on that day, and you can't believe how quickly and efficiently they handle the huge crowd. I wasn't in line for more than an hour even though, as you might well imagine, there was NEVER an empty table from opening to closing. Neither the quality nor selection suffered in the least on that special day. These people CARE about soldiers and veterans!
As far as buffet go, Golden Corral is one of the better ones. I usually end up here 2 or 3 times a month. I enjoy buffets because you can pick and choose what you want to eat. Golden Corral offers an extensive salad bar, soups, some Mexican (chili, tacos.....), a small Chinese section (very tasty), a grill (steaks, burgers.....ect.), side dishes galore plus a large dessert area. They cater to the younger generation as well. Carrying such child friendly dishes as french fries, pizza, mac & cheese and the like. The food is stored under heat lamps. So you much be careful that something has not been sitting out too long. For the most part, the staff is on top of refreshing and replenishing the food. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The servers will stop by your table often and make sure your drinks are full, if you require dinner rolls or just to see if you're doing alright. I have been to other Golden Corrals in the area and this location is far and above the best of them. The downsides are that on weekends it gets quite busy. Remember in this location you not only have patrons from Surprise but the Sun City West and Sun City Grand clientele too. If you get there too early, (as in Early Birds), the parking lot will be full and there will be a line out the door. I try not to get there (on ANY day) before 6 - 6:30. Most of the older clientele will be leaving or have left by then. The upside about having an older clientele is that they will complain about anything and everything, therefore, the staff has to be sure to be on their toes. If you haven't tried THIS Golden Corral (in Surprise, AZ), give it a shot. It's usually a very nice dining experience.
