The food was awful the last three times we've been there, and the last time was after the new menu started. From the new menu, my mother-in-law and husband chose mashed potatoes with their burger that was the consistency of soup when it arrived, so they had to request fries instead. My fries with my fish and chips were so overdone my father-in-law could hear me chew them from the opposite corner of the table (they were like stick-staped potato chips, only harder), and the fish was an oil slick. Service was slow enough that I had to ask for a piece of bread to eat until our food came, and it was not a busy night. The fries my MIL, FIL and husband received were so covered in pepper that they could barely be eaten. It's touch and go regarding what beer is both on tap and available - they run out of staples like Guinness, Smithwicks and local brews on a regular basis. Before the new menu, it was worse.
High points: the burgers my MIL and husband ordered were cooked to order as they requested them. The atmosphere in the bar is nice, and the decor is great for an Irish pub.
I really do want to like this place, and we gave it a lot of tries. For a while it was great, but then service went down hill around the end of last year and after three attempts over a few months that were terrible, we had to call it quits. It's such a shame, too - the place really has such potential to be a great little pub and restaurant. Anyone can have a bad night, so we did keep going back to see if it would improve, but I think we finally need to give up.
Fun, fun fun!!! I love this pub. The food is hardy, heavy and perfect pub food. The environment has a great feel and the bar tenders are good and helpful. The waitstaff seems overly busy sometimes, but they are still polite and effective. the food sometimes takes a long time to come out of the kitchen. A great place to go on Second Saturday.
