I first ate at Old Hickory Steakhouse when I first moved to Jackson. I continue to eat there. I am not a big steak eater but I LOVE their steak. Our server Savannah is always excellent and she makes sure our glasses never runs dry. Our food is always right and and we never have to wait a long time either.
I also like their home cooking it taste like grandma made it. They have the best banana pudding I have ever eaten.
I have eaten here several times and yet to find something that I have not liked. The service is excellent. I love the atmosphere. The steaks are the best in town. The cooks really know what they are doing. This is our families favorite restaurant.
I must have been in a different restaurant than everybody else. The service was poor, the food horrible. My steak had some sort of very strange spices on it (I prefer the taste of meat, with a little salt, pepper, and garlic), and my smashed potatoes had so much pepper they were inedible!
I would rate this place as a definite -5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
This place has excellent atmosphere, authentic decor, very friendly staff, and wonderful food. The sweet potato casserole was yummy! The prices are reasonable. The variety of foods available satisfied everyone's appetite. This is definitely going to be a place to go for great food from now on. Keep up the good work Old Hickory Steakhouse! Also, Happy Birthday sang backwards is definitely original, gotta check this out for the birthday person in the family.
Found this place after restruant across street was closed. The steaks are very good. They cook them right. Medium well is juicy and no pink for those squmish about raw meat. (according to my wife) The ribeye is great. Sides were good as well
My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised when we ate here for lunch several days ago. The food was fantastic -- very good, fresh salad and yummy hamburger steak with gravy! The prices are much lower than most places in town. The dinner prices are a bit higher, but not as high as other steak places in Jackson. They spent a lot of money redecorating the place, so I'm glad it's doing well. It's an inviting atmosphere, great food, and even better prices!
