Sushi Yama, Escondido

This was my first and LAST time visiting this place. The only reason it has one star is because it wont allow me to leave no stars. Our server Brianna was extremely rude!!!!!!! First it took her 10 minutes or more just to introduce her self and take our drink order!!! Keep in mind that the restaurant wasnt very busy... when she took our drink order we decided to give her our food order since she was taking long. Despite that, we remained with a positive attitude because as a server i undertand how hard it is as times. Took at least another 45minutes + to get our food. We ordered a bento box, dragon roll, albacore special, centipede, and gyozas. The gyozas were cold and not to mention that I never got the centipede roll. We finished all of our food and still no centipede. I waited for her to come back so I can let her know and so we can get our check but still no server. So after waiting another 20 minutes we decided to go to the front and ask for our check and when she gave me my check I noticed that she never even put in the order for the cetipede roll. So I told her just to let you know, you never ordered one of my rolls ... her response which one? oh the centipede? My apologies She said it in a very careless rude manner. So we decided that she didnt deserve a tip (i typically leave 20%+) so as we were walking out she ran out after us and shouted Thank you for not leaving me a tip after all I have to make a living!!!! After that i was completely angry! I went in and asked for the manager and he did apologize and tried to work things out. He gave us a $20 gift card, which was nice. But the entire time we were speaking to him outside, so people wouldnt think we were making a scene, she continuously opened the door and was saying remarks like make sure you give them my schedule so they dont come when i work and the manager did nothing to stop her. Never again will I come her, nor will I recommend this place to ANYONE!!! Completely unprofessional and rude!!

I eat here almost every week. They have 10 amazing rolls that are 1/2 off everyday. The cajun shrimp and protien roll are my favorite! Its the best sushi for the money.

I have only been there a couple of times but i never had any issues with the waiters or bad service. my drink was never less then half full. I thought the food was good. Some of there rolls are expensive but they do have ones that are 50% off. I usually order those. I would go again when i feel like sushi

When I go to a Japanese restaurant, I expect over-the-top friendly service. The service at Sushi Yama is anything but that. The last time I went, my girlfriend got a roll that she didn't order...they refused to take it back. We are not going back.

Also had a horrible experience here! Service was slow and they hardly checked on us...we waited a long time in between orders and were constantly looking for our waitress. Then we used a 20% off coupon and the only discounted us 15% and when we asked why they actually gave us attitude and acted all bothered by it, saying the coupon was from the last owner (even though it's the same name and we just saw a recent coupon exactly the same out - whatever)!!! Sushi was just ok, but prices were high and because of everything else, we would never return! We like Katsu in San Marcos and go there often...great service and friendly staff and VERY fresh fish!!!

So is it true that sushi yama is already out of business?, doesn't surprise me. We tried it twice and never again. Service was horrible, management acturally arguring with employees in front of customers and sushi chef really didn't have a clue, no interaction with guests at the bar, and everyone seemed clueless..

We have to many sushi restaurants and were not very happy with this one. The Miso soup tasted as if someone accidentally put a whole box of salt in it. They don't have a very large selection on sushi specials and the service was just okay. And the LOUD techo/club music is a bit much.
