Wow ! Great restaurant in Salinas. I have eaten at all of the restaurants in Salinas, Monterey, and Carmel. This place is great. Stopped in for the first time on a Tuesday evening and no one was there. I was a little worried at seeing an empty restaurant. What a surprise, great food and great service! The calamari and clam chowder was better than Vivolos Chowder House or any place on Fisherman's wharf. Calamari was tender and not oily or greasy. The clam chowder was homemade and not out of a can. Best clam chowder ever, very fresh and delicate clam taste. Not soupy or to thick with to many potatoes. The soy maple skirt steak was fantastic.
Cooked to a perfect medium rare with a wonderful flavor. Far better than Hullabaloo's in Salinas or the Rio Grill in Carmel. This place is superior to the Rio Grill in Carmel. We had a dinner party at the Rio Grill just the week before, what a let down that was. Ramiro at the Village restaurant provided perfect service. He did not hover and appeared at the right times. Finished with the Creme Brulee which was also fantastic. Nice wine list very reasonably priced. Chalone Vineyards Chardonay for $22 a bottle! We paid twice that at the Rio Grill in Carmel I just hope they can make it because this is probably the best restaurant in Salinas! Better than the Pajaro Street Grill ever was and way better than Hullabaloo's in Old town. Please give this place a try. We need to keep this place open
