Gallo's Mexican Restaurant, Fairbanks

This is the best Mexican food in Fairbanks. That said, the service, as a lot of Fairbanks places, is sometimes excellent and other times not so good.

Good food it is a bit americanized though (lived in TX). The service is very friendly and it has a neat colorful south-west atmosphere.

I have been pleased the 3 times I have been. Good food. Good service. We didn't get sick after eating there which is a plus in Fairbanks.

Average quality for Fairbanks. I don't know of any great Mexican food here. The fajitas dinners are very good and big portions, but the chile rellanos are terrible. Good service.

The quality of the food was so-so and the look of the restaurant was great, but the service was beyond terrible. We ordered and received out drinks, but our server never came back to refill our drinks or bring chips. I found a bone in my chicken enchilada (which had tasted pretty good up until that point), and they had freshly washed the lettuce and put it onto my son's soft taco without it drying, so the tortilla was soggy. The server never came to our table for us to complain (despite me flagging him down several times). He walked by and dropped out check on the table without ever stopping, and picked up the check the same way.

I have only not given a tip one other time in the past ten years. This place had the worst service I have experienced in years. The place was about 10% filled and the hostess set the four of us in the bar area with the setting sun directly in two of our faces. We were the only people in that area, The waiter came by our table only one time after the meal was served to ask my wife if she wanted another Virgin Margarita. We didn't get a single refill on our drinks, wasn't never asked how the meal was, then sat there for many long minutes to have our plates removed. Only after my wife went to get to-go boxes did our waiter appear. OH, and the food quality barely met the quility-price ratio. The only redeeming attribute is you got plenty of mediocre food.
