My wife and I went with my grandmother to Galangal Thai restaurant on August 4, 2007. The decor was very modern and sleek. The food was good, but the prices were too high ($23 for Pad Thai, the cheapest thing on the menu) and the host and waitress annoyingly tried to act more sophisticated and elegant than they were.
When the host seated us, he handed us our menus, then said, "And for the most *important* part of your meal, here is the wine list." I don't need him to tell me what the most important part of my meal is. (I hardly ever drink, and the wines were _very_ expensive.)
When my grandmother asked our caucasian waitress what Pad Thai is, the waitress said, "Oh, it's really nothing special. It's just noodles with soy sauce, and some protein added if you want." We couldn't believe our ears, since Pad Thai is the pride of Thai Cuisine. We ordered it anyway, and the waitress responded with "Really?!".
The food was excellent, served on very fancy china with fancy utensils and a real orchid on every dish. Still, I don't think it's worth the price.
By the way, the restaurant's correct address is:
145 Hilden Road
Ponte Vedra, FL
(not "Nocatee, FL", as given in the Yahoo Local listing as of this writing).
The listed telephone number, 904-827-1150, is, however, correct.
