Located at the corner of Waialae Avenue and Saint Louis Drive, this bustling cafe has charm and character along with reasonable prices. The eatery is a popular gathering spot for students from the University of Hawaii and nearby Chaminade who come to see and be seen. It is not at all unusual to see more mopeds in the parking lot than SUVs, especially on weekends. Diners are frequently seen toting in their own beer or ouzo on warm tropical nights when live music is slated along with the freshest pita sandwiches, braised lamb shanks and souvlaki. - Lottie Tagupa
Not much free parking but two paid lots available across street. Order food at counter and find a seat. Friendly staff and good food. Nice break from the touristy spots in Waikiki where food prep can be rushed and questionable. Just moved to the island and settled in Royal Kunia but worth making the drive down. Greek is hard to find on Oahu.
I love The Fat Greek!
I go there almost 3 times a week and I still have yet to have gotten sick of it.
Their specials are amazing, especially their couscous!
And I feel that I can still eat for reasonable prizes over there.
Wow, what a treat... Every time I have dined at THE FAT GREEK, I try something different and have NEVER been unhappy with my meal. My tastebuds feel like they are exploding from the incredible flavors they mingle together and nothing tastes the same.
I love the environment too. Great colors, lots of seating, warm and friendly and music that reminds me of various days in the past.
Parking can be a challenge in their lot unless you have an parking angel, patience or a driven desire to eat at THE FAT GREEK. There is paid parking across the street just in case.
Take a trip to the foot of Saint Louis Heights and enjoy a wonderful meal. Your taste buds will be watering on the way with expectation!
