I recommend going for lunch. Most of the people have complaints about when it is busy, but the food is very good and very reasonable when you aren't gonig for dinner during a busy time. The only reason I subtract a star is due to the high prices and general chaos that you can find at night, particularly on the weekends.
This is my new favorite restaurant. I love Asian-style food, and there are many choices on the menu here. If you go during the weekday lunch special, the price is actually pretty decent. I've been to other Asian-themed establishments that charge double the price of HuHot, with less choices of food. The people who wrote reviews before this one either have gone on a bad day, or the service has improved greatly since then, because the service was excellent. The waitress who served my wife and I walked up to the table and asked if we had been there before. When we told her we hadn't, she took the time to explain everything before we left to go to the food bar, and our drinks, tortillas (even though we didn't want them) and rice were waiting for us when we got back. The cook was also nice, asking how are day was, etc. The waitress kept coming back to check on us, and would bring us a refill of our drinks even before ours was empty without us even having to ask. Between the excellent service and the wide variety of choices, we will definitely be going back. I would just recommend going during the week, when it's less busy.
We visited this establishment for the first time on a Friday night. We were meeting another couple there so we put our name on the list and sat at the bar for a drink. We were told that the wait would be about 15 minutes. The other couple showed up within that 15 minutes. We waited for about 30 more minutes and when they still had not called our name we asked what was going on since people that had came in after us were getting seated. We got an attitude from the hostess and was told that they messed up their list. Ok whatever. Our name was the only one left on the list and there were many empty tables. What's the problem? Pretty sad that they can't even follow the seating list.
We got seated and waited a bit for a server. Finally one came and brought us menu's and took salad and soup orders and then told us to head up to the grill area. Well...I would rather have my salad first. She brought the salads and soups and then took off before we could get her to bring silverware. Finally got those from a different server.
We headed up to the buffet to choose what we wanted and that went well. When we got to the grill the cook took my bowl and my husbands bowl and dumped it all together on the grill. We had 2 different sauces and we didn't want them mixed. Don't know why he thought we did.Took forever to get his attention and when we finally did told him to dump it since we had different sauces. He also took on an attitude when we told him what he did.
I realize that they had been very busy but at that point there were lots of empty tables. Even a sincere apology over all this would have been fine. The food was decent and we enjoyed it. When we left the hostess was standing by the front door and turned her back to us as we were leaving. Nice...no have a great night and sorry for all the mix ups or anything.
Not sure if we will be back.
The only reason its getting two stars is I have been there a few times and had a decent experience. But the last time..I'll never go back. and I advise you to find another restaurant to give your money to.
Firstly, there is not a single Asian looking person in the place, so authenticity is nonexistent. We where a table of 5 in a relatively empty restaurant when we sat, within 5 minutes of us sitting there was about 4 more tables that came in, it took nearly 20 minutes for us to get our beverage orders to the table, so bad I had to demand that the inexperienced waitress get me a drink NOW!, after about 30 minutes we got our soups and salads, hot bowls and cold salad never mixes, not to mention the presentation at McD's was 10 times better, the food was just ok, kind of hard to mess up Mongolian grill.
The service was so bad, I'll never eat there again, there are far too many good authentic Asian food restaurants around to waste another penny, on that place, I hope the owners/managers start to realize that while teenage waitstaff might be easy to control, they lack any meaning of service orientation
