I went to this place two weeks ago. I have to admit that they have great steak. The meat is top quality and they cook it just right. If you are meat lover, you won't be dissapointed. The reason for 4 stars is that my waitor seems to be tired and not very cheerful. I will visit this place every times I am there.
We were there in May 2010. Everything was great until we received our food and it was cold. We informed the waiter who said he would check with the cook and he never returned with and answer. Once we flagged him down he said the cook said it was hot when he gave it to the server. The waiter also says he told the manager who never bothered to stop by and apologize. We had a table of 8 each couple spent over $125 on their meal give or take so we deserved some type of empathy.
Maybe it's because I'm from the midwest - but I found Old Homestead to be less than I expected. I had the prime rib and the crab and corn chowder soup. The soup was excellent, and the steak was a generous portion (more like a roast, huge). However, the steak was very bland. It wasn't dry aged, it wasn't particularly seasoned, it wasn't wood-fire charred, it wasn't anything special that would justify the $44 price. If you want to overpay for steak, and pay extra for any sides - enjoy. Also, the sauce they provided was a marinade, not a steak sauce, per se. It was sweet and overpowering - not something you'd like to put on a premium steak. But with so little flavor to the steak itself, it needed something.
