Momma Dean's is good down-home southern cooking. Nothing fancy, but real good food. Large portions (you may need a to go box) 1 meat, 2 sides, roll or hot water cornbread, and dessert for $9.99. Choices include: Fried Chicken, Smothered Chicken, Smothered Pork Chops, Fried Pork Chops, Chicken Fried Steak, Chicken Gizzards, Chicken Livers, Chicken Tenders, and on the weekends Southern Fried Catfish, Their Award Winning Twice Cooked Chicken (smoked & then deep fried), and sometimes smoked ribs!!! Sides: Mashed Potatoes, White or Brown Gravy, Macaroni & Cheese, Fried Okra, Potato Salad, Fried Zuccinni, Coleslaw, Corn Nuggets, Purple Hull Peas, Greens, Candied Yams, Green Beans. Desserts: Peach Cobbler, Banana Pudding, Lemon Cake, Chocolate Cake. Momma Dean's is NOT fast food....Some items take HOURS to prepare GO EARLY, because late in the day, they may be out of some items that may take a long time to cook and may close early if they run out of food. At peak times there may be a line waiting to get a table, and the floor may be dirty but the food is worth the wait!!!! Momma Dean is a very friendly, warm hearted, wonderful, loving lady who is very caring and giving. Don't be surprised if she stops by your table and personally greets you or sits down with you a visits a while. P.S. Momma Dean's can cater your special event! They have even catered for some Fortune 500 companies!

Saturday evening and they had ran out of over half there menu. We asked if they were usually not that busy, but they said they were always that busy. That to me is inexcusable. Catfish, excellent... banana pudding, excellent... everything else, average. Too bad all five of us had to get almost the exact same thing because there was nothing left to order.

I used to go into Momma Deans all the time, but the food quality started going downhill fast. I wish they would start to cook like they did when i first ate there. Maybe then I would come back.

The service was prompt and friendly. The food was delicious and the portions were more than enough. A great value. Loved the classic soul and R&B music coming out of the kitchen. Do yourself a favor and check out Momma Dean's sometime soon. They definitely keep it real in there.

haven't been there, sorry, just wanted to comment on a news report we just heard on Channel 5. You are apparently being reprimanded for giving out free food to the homeless, being shut down for non-payment of taxes. God bless you for trying to do the right thing and shame, shame for those who persecute you for this. God Bless

I have had good food and good service every time I have been to Mama Dean's. No, it's not 5 star service or food, but if you like local, hole in the wall, fried food that tastes good, this is the place. My mama was a fine southern cook, and cooked fried chicken all my life. All she used was salt and pepper. So if the one reviewer wants a bunch of spice in their chicken, go to AQ. I will take Mama Dean's over any of the chains in NWA any day.

Ii wouldn't go back to this place if someone paid me. Our food was cold, looked like it was leftovers from the day before, and my chicken fried steak looked like it had been pulled straight from the freezer to the fryer. The place was dirty (about 5 dirty tables) and there was only one family eating when we came in, so it's not like they were too busy to clean them or anything. I was really looking forward to eating here, from all the great reviews on the news and magazines. I just don't know how they got the good ones. sorry, but i was very disappointed :(

So I rarely write reviews but after my experience at Momma Deans, I felt compelled to share a few thoughts with you. I started with a quick search for Soul Food and found a few locations in AR. I read the reviews of MD and decided I would pass based on what I read, I know now that would have been a mistake. I stumbled upon MD on my way to another Soul Food Restaraunt, a quaint place just on the outskirts of town. Your typical table and chair mom and pop. The menu was spelled out on a few white boards, Meats, Sides, Desert, Drinks. The smell was a mix of bbq and soul food. I ask for the house special and was directed to the twice cooked chicken (smoked then fried) I chose greens and fried zuchini (I was looking for potato and gravy or grits but). Needless to say the young man who took my order was friendly and efficient. My drink was out in just moments, fruit punch, and my dinner followed 5 minutes later. Hot and smelling great. The chicken was wonderful, moist on the inside with nice crispy skin, the greens were well cooked, flavorful and filled the bowl they came in to the brim. The zuchini was ok but, the corn bread was a hit. Little footballs deep fried, this was a new spin for me but it was great. Last but not least fresh peach pie. A bowl full of goodness with homemade crust. Very nice ending. Overall the portions were well sized and the meal was very good. Then Momma Dean herself came out, greeted each table, bussed along the way and was genuine in her desire to make sure everyone had a good meal and left full. She had a great smile and a warm greeting for everyone. Last and most important in my experience was watching a couple who seemed in need approach the delivery window to let the young man inside know Ms. Dean had offered them a free meal if they came by, he quickly acknowledged them and their request and I will bet this is not the first time nor the last time he will full fill this offer by Ms. Dean. A family owned restaurant offering good food, a pleasant environment and giving back to those in need. This was a night I will not soon forget and before you judge Momma Deans by those who only wish to find the fault, please take this experience into consideration as tonight I got more than a meal from Momma Dean. Thank you, Paul.

I've eaten soul food and this is not soul food. The fried chicken was only season with salt and pepper, and the green beans and yams came from a can and had that can taste. Don;t fool yourself thinking this is home made food. I was watching the kitchen and saw frozen and can food. Green beans should have been made with either bacon or ham hock, onion and seasoning. Yams drain and add brown sugar & nutmeg for seasoning.
