Matamoros Restaurant Y Cantina, San Antonio

Went to Matamoros May 30,2012 for lunch with a Free Dinner coupon (buy one, get one free ). Once there I was forced to order from the dinner menu and wouldn t you know it, one meal was +$3.00 and the other meal was +$4.00 MORE than the Lunch menu. Max value of the Free Dinner coupon was stated as $7.99 YET not a single dinner entree was priced at $7.99. That means supposedly that I saved a Whopping $0.99 BUT WAIT. I had to pay sales tax on that purportedly saved $7.00 and that was -$0.58 so I ended up SAVING all of FORTY ONE CENTS! To top this off, the food on this visit was at best marginal as compared to the several times I have eaten there in the past. This place has been hit hard by the economic downturn and the quality of the food, as well as that of the wait staff, has suffered accordingly. I suggest steering clear of this place as it appears to be declining markedly.

i am a regular customer at matamoros restaurant. my family and i have been going there since it opened. the food is always tasteful, servers are always friendly, and the live music is always a ton of fun. i have never had a bad experience here!!

matamoros is an amazing restaurant! they have amazing fajita specials on sundays and mondays, cheap and great tasting margaritas and an amazing waitstaff. i have been to this restuarant several times and have never been disappointed. i recommend it to anyone!

I remember way back when this restaurant opened, I would consistently go because I thought the waitstaff was amazing. I felt right at home. Being a customer service rep myself, this was crucial. The last few times i have gone the customer service has been worse and worse. It is so disappointing! The last time I went will be the last experience I will ever have there. It was terrible. The manager in charge is an idiot and needs official manager training. I pretty much got kicked out of my table when I wasnt even done eating, because someone else needed to eat. Ridiculous! There are a million different restaurants in San Antonio. Dont go get treated like crap at this one! Customer service there is awful!!!!!!!!!!!

Really Bad!!! Just go to Tacobell and save about $50. Plastic in food and wait staff very rude. DONT GO...

My family and I enjoyed a great Mother's Day dinner here today. The steak, shrimp and salmon were de'lish! This was our first visit and we'll definitely be back for more! :D

Awful. Just aweful. I wish I would have read these before I went. I also got super sick from eating here. I went on thursday and was sick throughout the weekend. I'm following ara723 and calling the Health Department AND woai kitchen cops. Go here if you want to get e.coli or some other awful stomach bug. never again.

We've been to Matamoros countless times...even celebrated New Years there...and this place is fabulous. The food is exquisite and the Margaritas...woohoo, the Margaritas. I recommend the Mahi Mahi, the salmon and the Blue Agave Margarita! Please ignore the unfair and very dramatic review provided by ara723 and go to Matamoros. Latin Nights (Fri & Sat after 9:30 PM, no cover) are phenomenal...band does great and the place gets crowded! Ask for Mark Marquez as your waiter...awesome individual, outstanding service!!!!

The service was great. Food was HORRIBLY overpriced!! Most of the food tasted like it was store bought, not made in house. Then when we got home, we all got VIOLENTLY sick from the food. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!!!!!

I have been to Matamoros every Saturday since the start of the 2011year. Let me begin by saying....I've died and gone to Heaven!!! The wait staff is the Greatest. The two gentlemen that run it are the Best. The band members are very Talented. My work friends and outside of work friends have joined me on Saturdays and we all have had great times. Overall, great place to Eat and Dance!!!
