When my daughter and I checked in at the Holiday Inn Sunspree the hotel asked for a credit card to have on file.
My daughter informed the front desk that she would be paying with her debit card; so to avoid a hold on her bank account I used my Capital One Credit card for check in. The Holiday Inn
charged 285.50 to my credit card without informing me or my daughter of any such hold or the amount. Four days after our departure the hold on my credit card was still in force.
I called the Holiday Inn and even though my daughters payment had cleared her bank on her debit card they continued the hold on my Credit Card. My credit card company sent me an alert and then I called the hotel who said the hold would be 7 to 10 days. WHY???? The bill had been paid in full. I do not think this is an appropriate practice
and if a hotel desk clerk is going to double charge they should
at least inform the victims of the horrible transaction.
Lovely hotel, nice room, good food in cafe but horrible experience in checking out and not getting HOLD of monies
on credit card released.
