Ruben's Mexican Food, Bakersfield

It is unfortunate that the food we found really good to eat was not matched by service or cleanliness. I went to pull my chair closer and my hands nearly stuck to the chair legs. The two televisions, out of sound sync but blaring loudly, made me feel like I was eating in a bus station. The interior has whatever was permanently attached to the walls leaving chunks out of it, never painted and simply gross to look at. I wanted to leave when the waitress brought our opened beers to the table holding the top of the bottles with her hands. This is gross serving manners but I kept my mouth shut and just wiped it to see what would happen next. When our waitress served the people who came in after us and then asked if we were ready I damned near split. My boyfriend said he heard the food was good, just sit tight. The food was good though. Too bad, not good enough to get us back.
