One star for the food. It s pretty good. Worthy of 3 stars on its own. But wow, the greeting, attitude, and service made us feel as uncomfortable in a restaurant as we ve been in many years; maybe ever. The place could servive on the food, location, and decor, but if others have similar experiences, it could spell TROUBLE. Someone in charge must know the meaning of Hospitality , or not.
Not sure what Garrett was talking about because the experience that I had was the exact opposite. The rolls were great as well as the service. I asked our waiter if they could make a dish for us that was not on the menu. Yuki, was the head sushi chef there and he came to our table to ask me how to make it. I told him what I knew of the dish and he made his own version, which was very delicious. This quickly became our favorite sushi restaraunt and will gladly continue to dine there when we want to have sushi in a great atmosphere and service! If you dont want to spend a lot of money, they have Happy Hour prices daily which you should look into. We went before and after the Mavs game and totaled $130 that included drink speacials as well!
This is the worst sushi I have ever had. The location is very nice but the food is terrible. The fish isn't fresh and many of the dishes are smothered in sauce so you can't taste the fish. Do yourself a favor and find one of the other places in Dallas. Tei Tei on Knox or even Rock & Roll sushi (which had the worst review in the Dallas News) is still better than this place! Avoid it like the plague. If you just want wine and a nice location, its good, but if you like sushi, you will be greatly disappointed!
I've eaten at Kenichi 4 times now. The food is consistently excellent. The service has been mixed. The first 2 times my group received excellent service. My last 2 times were worse than horrible. The most recent time, service was slow, a couple of the orders were incorrect, some of our dishes were never delivered, and we had to ask for a sake menu 2 times before re-asking the watergirl to get us one (which she did). When we complained to the manager, the waiter stopped at the table to argue with us. If you love excellent japanese food that is really expensive, but don't mind the potential for slow, bad and spotty service, this is the place for you. I will probably never eat here again. Each time we have eaten here, my groups have averaged about $100 per person before tip. For that kind of money, I expect impeccable service and food.
