If you want a cheap meal for a family of four go to Ryans or Applebee's. The problem with the bad reviews is that people dont like healthy fresh food. (Green beans are supposed to be crisp when fresh) This is not for children, but more for adults who enjoy good freshly prepared food. If you are not full from your dinner portions you are OVEREATING! Me and hubby go for date night or just to grab dessert and expresso. If you think Pizza Hut has the best pizza you ever had, than you will not understand the sophistication of food you get at The Wild Olive.
Wild Olive used to be our favorite restaurant in Crestview.....The last two times we ate there was VERY disappointing..We were there on a Saturday night....we both ordered the Pearl Street Grouper...our favotite....after we were served our salads....we were told..they only had one serving of Grouper left...we agreed to split the dinner and wrote it up as a busy Saturday night...We were there two weeks ago with friends..this time...no grouper...they said they were subsituting Trigger Fish....and assured us it was every bit as good as Grouper..Three of us ordered this and one person ordered the ribeye....I have no idea..what this ...MYSTERY FISH was ..It was rubbery and tasteless..We asked where it came from...VIET NAM was the reply.....We live in the biggest fishing area in the world...and we are eating fish from Vietnam...BTW..we were charged for this mystery fish at the same price as FRESH GROUPER.. None of us finished our food and no one wanted take home boxes...What started out to be a wonderful restaurant with fabulous food and service...has gone by the wayside....I would not reccomend this to anyone...Ps...the green beans were tastless and RAW....Their advertised Catch of the Day...was Cobia...It too...was from Vietnam..what a lousy experiance...we won't be back..The only reason I gave it a poor rating..instead of AWFUL..was the fresh bread was still very good......
I wouldn't recommend this place at all. For a family of 4 (2 adults, an 11 yo and a 7 yo) we just spent $80 dollars and none of us were overly happy with our meal. First, it took FOREVER for us to get our meals. They did serve us bread (which was the only thing I enjoyed) and our salads came out a little later but our meal took such a long time to come that we were over it by the time tit got there. My husband had the catch of the day which he enjoyed but his sides were rice and raw green beans. His complaint was that he didn't like the beans and there wasn't enough rice. I had chicken parmesan. My spaghetti was boring! My husband compared it to Banquet (tv dinner) spaghetti and I think that's giving it too much credit. The chicken was so bland that I just pushed it to the side. My daughter couldn't find anything on the menu she wanted so she didn't enjoy it at all. And my poor 40lb 7 year old's pizza was so tiny that I had to feed him when we came home. We had plenty of food leftover but didn't even bother with to-go boxes. As if we weren't irritated enough by the bland food, it took so long to get our bill and pay. I'm so mad that I paid $80 for that!!! Don't bother, Crestview!!
The Wild Olive is the very best place in Crestview. No Question about it! We have been all over the panhandle of Florida and there is no better place. Service is awesome the food is superb and the portions are so much you will not be able to finish. But trust us you will want to take home what you can't eat there...Prices are less than you would think. My wife and I take a couple for lunch and it is less than 40 dollars for all of us to eat plus tip...Thank Wild Olive
