Having read some of the negative reviews on here I had to repsond. I have eaten at Silvina's over thirty times and have never had a bad meal. Without a doubt it is the best food I have ever eaten, Mexican or not. And that might be the problem with some of these reviews. This is actual food that you would eat if you went to Mexico. You won't find greasy tacos with parmesean cheese on them at Silvinia's Basket. They combine fresh meats and vegetables into incredible dishes you don't see in these parts. Everything is very fresh and there is plenty of it. You could make a meal of the chips and salsa they serve you alone. So, all I can say to the negative reviewers is if your idea of Mexican food is greasy tacos with parmesean cheese, Jimboy's tacos is right down the street. For the rest of you, make the drive to Woodland and I promise you will be amazed.
I went there once with my husband, son and mother for dinner. It was purely awful. Each of us took one bite and left our meals on the table. It was almost $60.00. There are way better mexican food resturants in Woodland, and your tab will be less.
Excellent preparation and presentation of California style Mexican food. The chef takes ultimate care and his products are beautiful, but only average in taste. The margaritas are fake. The service is good and friendly. I would recommend this place.
Went yesterday and I tried the buffet for lunch and I was so disappointed. I read reviews and was looking forward to it. The buffet is priced way to high for what they offer and it doesn't even include a drink. COME ON GUYS! $12 for a so-so meal. I'm just glad my husband didn't come or he would have told them, me I was to nice to say anything and they asked like 3 times! Seems they knew it's not worth it. I won't go back, because there are so many eating places in Woodland.
My office is down the street from Silvina's Basket. We don't get a chance to eat out that often, but when we do, Silvina's is one of only a couple places we ever choose to go to. Everyone there is so warm and hospitable. We always feel like we're among family when we're there. Besides, how can you go wrong with some of the tenderest chicken enchiladas EVER to give you some energy to get through the rest of your day. Fantastic! If you like spicy food (and I mean SPICY), try the prawns with Diablo sauce - they will really wake you up and clear out your sinuses. You will NOT go back to work feeling tired. They are awesome! If you like ceviche, you will love the Campanchana, which is like an upscale version, with tasty prawns, fish, and veggies, and very refreshing.
Three pieces of advice for you: go there, go there, go there.
My husband and I dine at Silvina's as often as we can. We love the food there and Silvina and her staff are always very friendly. The environment there makes you feel at home. While there are hundred's of mexican food restaurants in Woodland, none of them are like Silvina's food, which offers a pleasant twist to traditional mexican food.
Silvina's Basket is dedicated to Woodland's families. They have graciously donated food for The Parent Project, a parenting class offered by the school district, and it is delicious! All of the parents rave over it. I personally love the green enchiladas. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff makes me feel like I'm part of the family when I pick up food from the restaurant. If I am waiting a few minutes, I am always offered a soda or water. Next time you're looking for a place to go out to dinner or a restaurant to cater your event, consider going to Silvina's. You won't be sorry!
