Mad River Bar & Grille, Charleston

Fun place to watch a local bands play. I caught a couple of blues shows here during the Low Country Blues Festival. The beer was cold and they had a pretty good selection as well. The only meal I have there, was one of their burgers and it was good. No complaints really. The crowd does pick up after 11 pm as stated from another person.

The BEST Corned Beef & Cabbage we have ever had in our lives! Promise!! St. Patrick s Day was incredibly busy. The waitresses kept up with the tons of guests that were there. We had a very great time while there. Again........ABSOLUTELY AWESOME FOOD!!

Had dinner at Mad River on Friday night, April 1, 2011, before the Cooper River Bridge Run. We had the chicken parmesan and the blackened chicken pasta, as well as a wings appetizer, and everything was exceptional. The prices are normal, the food and service were excellent. We eat here every year when we come and just love the whole atmosphere. We came back Saturday night for a lively atmosphere a little later this time. Great music and drinks, the place was hoppin! Can't wait to go back next year. All of the staff were exceptional! Thanks again for a great time!!!

My friends and I chose Mad River- Charleston for our New Year's Eve celebration. We were highly disappointed with our investment. The admissions ticket we bought came with a package of hors d'oeuvres, a buffet dinner, dessert, free drinks (not including shots), and a champagne toast. This sounds like a great deal until you have to eat your dinner standing up, shoulder to shoulder with people. The website states that they close at 2:00 AM. They kicked us out around 1:15, just after announcing last call. The rudeness of the bouncers, and even staff members was shocking. We had made arrangements to be picked up by our taxi at 2:20. Being that they kicked us out so early, we waited outside (drinkless) for over an hour. Again rude staff, not enough room for the amount of people there, and early closing is not what I would call a 'good' bar. My friends and I will not be returning and I do not suggest anyone else goes either.
