This place is the best sushi I have had. I have been eating sushi for several years now and I finally found a place that I will dine at for years to come. The cooks are fantastic, funny & very comical to talk too. Jack, Kevin, KJ & Kim are a riot. I have sat at the bar every time I come here. There are so many rolls to choose from that I like to see what is being sent out to other customers. Just by sitting at the bar I have experienced some great rolls because what I have seen them make. Their presentation is the best that I have seen. Their fish is always fresh and of extreme high quality. The only downer to this place is the waiting staff, they seem to get preoccupied talking (at least the women). If you can get anyone to serve you definitely try to get Sergio. He is a nice young man that seems to always be motivated in getting you your orders fast. You definitely need to experience this place once and decide for yourself if there is anything better in town. This place is great and am definitely going to be a long term customer.
This is the third time and definitely the last time, at least for a long while, I visit Sushi Garden. The food, as in the previous two visits, was very good; I particularly enjoyed their deep fried calamari roll. The service last night was just horrible all the way around. They were not under-staffed or experiencing unusual high volume (as per members of my party who live in Watsonville and visit this establishment frequently). We were a party of six and the food arrived at different times to our table. It took 27 minutes from first to last person in our group to receive our food. It took an additional 5 minutes for a member of our group to get eating utensils. Water seemed to be scarce and definitely unavailble on our table. A few minutes before leaving we asked for water; the waitress responded: 'yeah' but apparently forgot to bring it. Needless to say one half of our party went home thristy. Upon exiting a member of our group came across the owner of the establisment, she politely communicated her discontent to which he replied: 'We are bussy today'. After taking care of the bill, I was handed the credit card receipt to sign but not an itemized receipt which I immediately requested. I took another 4 to 5 minutes to get it; when I did finally get it, I noticed that gratuity was not included. I tipped a lousy 10% all for the food none for the service. Maybe I'll give them another chance but not in the immediate future. There are two other very good Japanese restaurants in Watsonville. No hard feelings - just disappointed.
