Description
The Basilica Cistern was built in 532 AD and served as a reservoir to the palaces like the Great Palace of Constantinople and Topkapi Palace. It is the city’s largest covered reservoir. With a capacity to store 100,000 tons of water and five-meter thick coated wall to ensure waterproofing, it is a great introduction to ancient science. The intricately designed marble and granite beautify the place.
