Had a total blast! Sitting outside on the front deck, winding down with the sweet smell of pine in the air and listening to the echoes of music bouncing off the hills from the nearby, talented Idyllwild Arts Academy students. After a full day of art ogling at the galleries, wine tasting, hiking and exploring, a movie at the local theater (also very unique and homey), it was only natural to want to relax with great grub/drink. We loved the bbq ribs and pork chops, and awesome/chilled quality German beer. Had no idea how eclectic and spiritual it is up here, how altruistic the locals are, and the home cooking of Goodtimes just brought our day to a fabulous close. WHAT A GREAT TOWN.
With my friend (visiting from Singapore) in tow, I decided to indulge her with a little of Mary s eccentricity (humor meets hospitality) which I feel is always such a nice way to be welcomed out of the cold and into a very homey atmosphere. My friend noticed the freshness and flavor of her entre, the generous portions/fair price ratio, and I turned her on to two of the signature Blondie desserts (scrumptious). The restroom is always clean, and in general, no matter the season, I always try to find the time for leisure lunches and cold beer! Go for the Idy burger - asking for three cheeses - they ll make it that way, and wash it down with an ice cold brew. Good times!
The place is a quaint little restaurant. We loved the homey feel. The waitress recommended the Mary's dip. My brother loved it! It was loaded with meat and the dipping juice very flavorful. My husband ordered the beef BBQ sandwich and very hearty, the fries done perfectly. My mom and I ordered the BBQ plate with ribs, chicken and shrimp. The ribs and chicken were perfect and not dry. The BBQ sauce is delicious. the shrimp could have been fried a little longer but they were still tasty. My daughters ordered the burgers and they said they were juicy and delicious. Their onion rings are my favorites from any other place I have tasted. And the desserts, yummy!! I loved the cheesecake and the cobbler was tasty.
We would definitely go back. Actually we are already planning the next day trip to go. Staff were great and very helpful. Awesome place!!
I walked through the door of this charming restaurants and it felt like home. The aroma of great smelling food. I't was dinner time, so I ordered the pork chops with baked potato and my husband ordered the BBQ ribs, with homemade fries. We both had a salad, which was very
fresh. We shared a berry cobbler, which I understand is baked there.
Great food. The service was quick and the price was just right.
I will come to this restaurant again, when I visit Idyllwild. Next time I will
taste the lunch specials, with a beer or glass of wine.
this place had the best service! they had excellent knowledge of the surrounding area for someone like us to see and do while 'on the hill'. we had truly the best burgers ever and melt in your mouth ribs-delicious! to top it off, we ordered a couple of Blondie's homemade desserts, the pumpkin cheesecake, the infamous Mud Puddle and her truly unique Apple-Cranberry Pie with caramel sauce...so good they should be illegal! I can't wait to come again to see what else they have cooked up for us. A genuinely great place to eat and excellent service with a smile the whole time. We were really made to feel at home!
