Guru Palace Cuisine of India, Mesa

10/4/10-Last night four of us went to Guru palace because we had wanted to try Indian food. That dinner was one of the best tasting and best experiences we have had. First of all the staff were all very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Owners came by twice to ask if we were enjoying the dinner. For an appetizer we had Paneer Tikka, cheese with spices and onions and baked. Delicious. For dinner I had Lamb Vindaloo, I ordered it spicy and it had just enough heat. lamb was tender in a wonderful brown gravy with potatoes. My husband had Shrimp Tikka Masala. The shrimp were big, plump and savory. Our friends had mixed grill and Chicken Saag-they just raced about theirs. We ordered a plain rice and a veggie rice for sides. Dessert was rice pudding -thick and spicy good and pistaccio ice cream-not smooth but grainy texture. it was a great palate cleaner for the heat from my dish. Excellent food and service.

I am Asian Indian by background, and I can cook a better tandoori chicken then they can. Also, my wife, of Vietnamese background, cooks better Indian food then this place.

The atmosphere is nice , the staff are UNPLEASANT and arrogant , it is funny that we have ordered 3 different dishes and end up all 3 had the same test and ingredients but different type of meat while they should be completely different. I was unhappy , it might be good for others but not for me , for sure I'm not coming back , will find another place. All that was my personal opinion .

I recently moved from New Mexico and being Indian I tried to find a good Indian restaurant. I went to an Indian restaurant in Phoenix and although it was good it was a far drive from my house in Mesa. My friend recommended Guru Palace and after visiting it I could see why. The food was unique but very very delicious, I couldn't get enough of the Garlic Naan. They have a lot of variety with a large menu that includes many types of lamb dishes (my favorite). But that's not all, the vegetarian dishes were so flavorful. Like many people I don't like my daily dose of veggies, but this restaurant makes them taste unbelievable. Thats just the food, the service was outstanding, they were very warming and inviting. The inside of the restaurant is a dim lit atmosphere with Indian murals, but I didn't get a chance to try out the floor seatings yet, maybe next time. All in all this is the best Indian restaurant I have had and I recommend it to everyone.

Just got back from Guru Palace. I'm not an expert with Indian food and thought the food was good, but not fantastic. There are so many dishes so I'm sure I'll find something that is fantastic another time. I never write reviews but decided that I should just because the staff was so friendly and helpful. I will be a repeat customer just because the staff is so friendly. We had a ton of left overs and the server put everything in boxes for us and constantly checked on us and filled our water numerous times. Other restaurants can learn a lot from the staff at Guru Palace!

I visited this place last August while on a business trip to Mesa. This restaurant is what made me fall in love with Indian food. I ate dinner two out of the three nights I was there. I've since traveled to many cities, and I guess I was just spoiled because I haven't found an Indian restaurant that comes anywhere close to the delicious food and great atmosphere this restaurant has. I'm looking for another reason to get out to Mesa just so I can eat here again!

The Guru Palace is our new Friday night place for dinner, it is just awesome from the food, service and beer choices. I can't say enough. I can't wait till Friday. They are the best!!!!!!

this was the best restaurnts i ever went to the chicken tikka masala was great that was a good one and the service was good i think her name was sandy she was awesome that was a good service and i liked the naans they were great the food was awesome who ever made i have to give them a applause of around great job i liked the decorations especially the seating area awesome well ill come back soon like tommorrow

Guru Palace is one of the best place to eat indian cuisine. They have wonderful service and Yes Mr.Munna Rocks he totally takes care of you and your friends. It was really nice being at this wonderful indian resturant.

Best Indian food in the valley!! the chef is from Copper kettle. staff very helpful and great atmostphere.
