This place is a welcome addition to the growing coffee culture in GB. While Kavarna on Broadway is still my favorite because it's closer to me, Stumpjack Cafe is a sure stop whenever I'm over in that part of the city or on my way south. It's a little out of the way off of hwy 43 but worth the few minutes detour when heading south IMO. It's a small, good coffee shop with an attractive interior and a drivethru that is a bonus when in any kind of hurry and I don't have time to go inside. I always give my business to the independents even and sometimes especially if they 're off the beaten track at all.
Coffee and smoothie drinks have been good there especially recently because I think the guy is getting better or using better coffee than before and that means something. This is the second Stumpjack place, the first and original one being in Two Rivers south of GB and I have stopped into that one a few times on my way to Manitowoc and Sheboygan. Sheboygan has a couple of good shops too with Z-Spot and Paradigm. The Stumpjack in GB is pretty new but it was another coffee shop with a different name before it was Stumpjack Cafe, but it looks like they are onto something good there now and I hope they keep it up. Between Kavarna on the one side and Stumpjack on the other it's a good thing for coffee shop lovers in GB.
But I got a little off track there so here's the rel review of Stumpjack Cafe. It is a very nice looking place. Small but very attractive and has kind of a world market type of theme going. The coffee is good as I said earlier although it was not as good earlier than it is now. I think that speaks well of the place because it probably means that they are aware of things that should be done to get better and keep improving. The smoothie I had there recently was very good. I don't have smoothies as much as I order coffee but now and then yes, and this one was very good. My girlfriend had a mocha latte one time there and she liked it but I usually just have regular coffee and that has been good.
The guy who apparently runs the place - he has been the same guy that has been there each time I've been there - is friendly and seems to be enthusiastic about what he's doing and that's a plus. He said one time that they are going to have some kind of lunch items at some point but I'm not sure when that will be. Right now they appear to be getting their feet under them and they are pretty new, being just maybe under a year old - I think they opened last summer - and are doing a good job so far. I would give them a very good thumbs up and suggest that anyone should go give them a try and that you will be happy you did.
Long rambling review here but I'm in a coffee mood today anyway and was at Stumpjack Cafe a couple days ago so thought I would help give them some good feedback.
