SOL Restaurant is not your typical Nashville Mexican hotspot. The atmosphere at SOL is upscale rather than down-home and the entrees are truly deserving of the word, "cuisine." It is evident by both the flavors and the plating that chef and owner Jason McConnell puts effort and attention into every dish. SOL Restaurant is a fantastic option for date night, a group gathering or any evening out. To pair a delicious drink with your Mexican meal, SOL offers an extensive selection of Tequilas and a variety of flavor choices. The only drawback to this great Mexican find is that it's only open in the evenings, so be careful to plan your day in Franklin or Nashville accordingly. - Lynn-nore Chittom
I totally agree with Steve-O! If you want deep-fried, queso, American-Mexican food, go to Las Palmas. Don't get me wrong, I love Las Palmas, but this is more of an authentic, fresh Mexican food. Go to Sol for the experience of a great night out. It is a little pricey, but totally worth it in my opinion. Everything I've had is great, but MUST-HAVES are guacamole (prepared and served tableside), Jason's Martini (Pom martini), and Churros for dessert. My husband and I are going for my b-day dinner tomorrow and I can't wait!!
The good and service is good, but not great. Average on both counts for the price they charge. I am from Texas so when I say the food is average, it is TexMex average. Certainly not the quality one would find in Dallas, Houston or San Antonio.
Couldn't disagree more with Kitty. I've been there four times, had four different waiters and have had four amazing experiences. The food is awesome and the price, while seemingly high for Mexican food, is totally justified. It's Mexican cuisine, not just Mexican food -- it rocks and is worth the $$, believe me.
Plus, if you love tequila, this is your joint. If you don't love it, the staff will teach you everything you never knew, and THEN you'll love it. Try the SOL Margarita, their specialty...awesome.
These guys know there stuff and show it. I'm in for four more trips at least!!
