We first discovered Thai Bamboo 8 years ago upon the recommendation of a friend. We have been to all four of their locations so many times over the years that I find it hard to remember a bad experience. Sure there have been a few extremely rare instances when the service or food order was mixed up slightly but I always remember the servers making it right with me and really seeming to care that I am happy at the end.
We enjoy all types of cuisine and restaurants but have a fondness for healthy Asian food partly from our world travels and from living in large cities for many years where Thai cuisine is so popular. When we lived in Seattle there were more Thai restaurants than Chinese, and most all of them were very good. I'm not sure if people here yet really know how great Thai food is.
What I really like about the food at Thai Bamboo is the authentic tastes, the huge menu and the quality choices for healthy ingredients. They offer great meats, seafood and the most incredible tofu. They even bring in fresh rare tropical vegetables from Hawaii to make it as authentic as possible. The food is always cooked to order so it is always fresh and tasty. And if you are vegetarian they not only offer a large selection but can make most any dish vegetarian and still taste great. I substitute their great tofu in many dishes to eat healthier.
What I like about the dining atmosphere is the beautiful detailed fun decor'. Lots of artwork and carving remind me of our SE Asia travels and make the dining experience special. No other Thai restaurant here even comes close to this artistic decor'. I was so amazed when I visited the new Coeur d'Alene location on 4th St. It was built from the ground up and looks like an huge Asian palace or museum. The colorful LED light show ceiling is so beautiful and amazing and it our children really like it too. They also have an incredible colorful and beautiful Galaxy Lounge there too with open air glass garage doors that made for some fantastic open air dining nights last summer.
We realize that some people only go to restaurants for the food not atmosphere. We like to make it special and to also to feel special when we dine out, that is why we find ourselves pining for Thai Bamboo much more than other Thai restaurants here. But we do also visit 3 or 4 other Thai restaurants here in Spokane as we find that each has its own strengths and a few unique dishes we like there but Thai Bamboo always seems to shine a bit brighter and their portions also seem to be larger and with good prices.
Coming from many years in the fine dining industry ourselves, I feel that I can see a good operation when I see one and Thai Bamboo does not disappoint. They are consistent, they are busy and always seem to win #1 Best Thai from all the readers poles.
I'm happy to support cultural gems like Thai Bamboo and others who bring some large city style to our Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area. We need it! I tired of driving to Seattle for fine dining.
If you're a fan of Thai Bamboo (or Thai food in general) and haven't been to this location, you really should check it out! Like their other locations, the food tastes great and reasonably priced for the huge portion that you get. The atmosphere is awesome with its high tech light show ceiling, fun lounge and expansive Asian decorations. Friendly and courteous staff. Just all the right ingredients to make your dining experience an enjoyable one!
